Received this book in a good reads giveaway and boy am i glad i did. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting,i loved all the different characters who all seemed so real ,if i found a reading circle like that id join it in a shot, loved the ups and downs and felt i lived it all with them,i am a big fan of erotica, but i wouldn't class this in that genre,it was more chick lit with spice ,i was in stitches with laughter at some points,it was nice to read a book with such strong, normal, female role models. But by far my favorite character had to be Reggie, loved the chic geek,so glad to have discovered a new author.

I would like to preface this by saying I only read a SNEAK PEEK, not the full book.

Scarlet was suggested to me as a cross between Veronica Mars (who I love) and Daria (who I know next to nothing about). Scarlet writes and reads fanfic about her favourite television show, Lycanthrope High. It's one of those books where you connect with the main character because they get you. The tv show, movie, book comic or video game character that you fall in love with feels like a real person - and Scarlet understands that. Her straight-laced best friend, Avery, not so much. It's a unique take on the high school experience with an awkward protagonist you want to know more about. I suggest you check it out.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it took me away from where I was at the time and completely sucked me into Harry's ever changing, disturbed and exciting life. Harry is such an excellent and interesting character! I found it so difficult to choose whether I even like Harry, he's a good guy, he's a bad guy and he's everything in between too.

This book is such an interesting take on normal time travel reads, it throws everything on its head.
The beginning of the book is slow to take off, you have to wait until around chapter 30 for things to finally start building and from there the book gets tenser, funnier and intriguing with every word.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heavy and though provoking read.

This book reads a lot like a fairy story, starring a girl who feels drawn into the magical world of the forest despite her attachments to the world outside. The writing style felt very lyrical, which seemed very appropriate for the story, and helped to pull me into it all the more effectively. Though it took me a couple of chapters to really get into the story, once I did I found that it was a quick read and kept me interested in the characters and what would happen next. If you're looking for an action packed fantasy story this might not be the book for you, but if you're looking for a magical story and beautiful writing this might be a good book for you to pick up.

If you look at my recent reads you would know that this is definitely not my normal style. I picked this book up for my book club and I'm glad that I challenged myself to read it. This was a fascinating read. You can tell that the author did a lot of research into the Mormon faith. You can also tell that the author did have creative license when creating this book.

I felt that this book was slow. It took me around 6 days to read this book which is a little long for me. I definitely struggled through this novel but I believe it is because it is not my typical style. All in all, I found the book interesting and I'm glad that I picked it up.

Ugh Percy if your book wasn't so funny I would really stop reading you. Book #4, almost done the series and I will keep reading you of course because.. why stop now?

You're always so cute and funny to read but still not that super awesome of a book. Always disappointed at the end when I finish, but super quick reads so I don't feel bad about it either way.

Grover is always my favourite character to read and now Tyson added to that list as well - again with the secondaries. The story was fun, the historyness of the gods is always fun to read or whatnot but still nothing to write home about.

2.5 lovely stars for you Percy, perhaps you shall surprise me with book 5.....................................................

I selected this book as one of my Amazon Kindle First Reads selections. It seemed like it could be a great read, with so much potential for suspense, intrigue and excitement. Instead, there was unnecessary exposition, sub-plots which were of no consequence to the story and characters with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. In what appeared to be an attempt to bring the tale to a conclusion, the actions of the characters swiftly moved from those of people desperate to resolve their situations to just plain ridiculous.

This appears to be part of a planned two-part series, with a second novel 'Before I Forget You' planned for 2019. With the seemingly half-hearted ending to this novel, I certainly wont be rushing to read the follow up.

The sheer scale of the work (0 more)
A novel one lives rather than reads
Each of the fifteen Dave Robicheaux novels which preceded this one are masterpieces and this is the Grand Finale. The plot and characters move within the devasted landscape of New Orleans following the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina. The scenes of environmental destruction are described with heartbreakingly beautiful poetic prose which serves as a counterpoint to a seering indictment of the socio-economic political landscape of the time. The extreme conditions under which the plot develops drive the characters to their limits of good and evil. The plot is as relentless as the driving force of the hurricane. Often difficult to read due to the sheer emotional weight of the work but too compelling to put down.

I won this book from the Goodreads First Reads giveaways. I wasn't sure what to expect as I've only read one other book quite a few years ago by this author. I remember that I liked the book but I have not picked up any of her other books to read in the interim. I loved loved loved this book. It focuses on Cecilia (Cece) and her life after she the death of her best friend. She makes some changes in her life and makes some new friends that she probably never would have met and goes on a road trip with them that resolves some issue in each of their lives. I absolutely recommend this book to others. It was enjoyable and I didn't want it to end.

American Gods
American Gods
Neil Gaiman | 2005 | Fiction & Poetry, Science Fiction/Fantasy
I don't get it: what's all the fuss about?

Written by an English-man now living in America, I'm aware that this has won numerous awards and is on the top of many peoples favourite reads, but for me? Not so much.

I found it tedious, dull, and un-involving, with the idea of new and old Gods fighting it out itself done better (and more enjoyably) elsewhere.

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who asked for a Neil Gaiman book, pointing them instead towards the far superior (IMO) [b:Stardust|16793|Stardust|Neil Gaiman|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328433738s/16793.jpg|3166179] or (even better!)
