I love a protagonist who feels like someone I could be best friends with, and that's exactly how I felt about Jill Gardner. She isn't afraid to eat cheesecake, tacos, and fries, she reads everything from romance novels to stories about dragons, and she isn't afraid to (or doesn't know when not to) speak her mind. I'd also love to quit my day job and work at Coffee, Books, and More!
This is another new-to-me series that I enjoyed so much I will be going back to the beginning to get caught up. It was full of believable characters, a touch of romance, and just enough personal drama to keep Jill on her toes. The mystery kept me guessing, and the solution did not disappoint. When you are living in a small base on the moon, it’s hard to vanish. And yet, that’s exactly what has happened to Nina Stack, the commander. Dash Gibson finds himself in the middle of the hunt for the missing woman, all the time with one thought in the back of his mind – if they don’t find her soon, time might run out.
This is a delightful combination of mystery and science fiction that will keep fans of either genre turning pages. The characters are sharp and well done. There are plenty of twists and clues. Plus there are some very funny scenes. My only warning is that this book spoils the first in the series, but that’s a very minor issue since both books are delightful reads.

Okay, it is official... I am putting this book in my "did not finish" pile. Rohypnol, rape, murder, and horrible writing/characters these are a few of my least favorite things. I haven't put a book in this list in well... forever. I am creating a "did not finish" shelf just for this book.
1st, the characters are 1 dimensional. I made it to page 90 and I just had to stop reading. The characters fell very flat.
2nd, this book reads like a high schooler's wet dream. There is the threat of rape, rape, and well... lots of sex.
3rd, I felt like the writer decided to add "big words" just to feel like a good writer. It felt like the writer had to use a thesaurus constantly.
I really wanted to like this book. It is suspense/romance which is my favorite genre but it just fell flat.

I was lucky enough to win a free copy of Matthew crow's `In Bloom` from the good reads giveaway.
I have never read anything from this author before,so I didn't know what to expect,but I can tell you I wasn't disappointed.
The story is told by fifteen year old Francis Wootton who has recently discovered he has leukaemia. Francis is very intellectual and grown up for his age,this could be due to his dysfunctional family( gay brother,absent father,mad grandmother).
During Francis treatment he meets Amber and their love blossoms,crow covers love,relationship,bravery and hardship within this book
I think this book would be classed as young adult,and very much reminds me of sue Townsend's Adrian mole.
I will be looking out for more books from this author.

This book has been on my list of books I want to read for years but I had felt a little daunted by it. When I finally picked it up I was in the right frame of mind for the challenge and it seemed a fitting read for my weekend away to a book town.
It would be fair to say that parts of the book which covered the more in depth discussions on the differences between the various types of heretics weren't the easiest of reads but given I'm no kind of expert on religion they did make sense and were important to the story.
What I really did love was the sections where William was using Sherlock Holmesesque deductions and the descriptions of the labyrinth style library. If you're a lover of books it's worth reading for those features alone.

Good but bonkers
I haven't yet read Desperation, so fortunately could judge this solely on it's own merits and it's definitely one of King's better books.
It reads a lot like his other epic novels like The Stand, Needful Things etc but in a much smaller size, and it's all the better for it. The plot is interesting and your typical King story, although being based around kid's tv shows makes it a little bit bonkers. It also means that some of the book can feel a little childish at times and some times it can get a bit irritating. But that said, as always with King it's well written with some interesting and developed characters, with lots of horror and gore and just about the right length of book to fit the story. This would make a hell of a good tv show.
