Lindsay (1717 KP) rated One Minute There in Books
Apr 9, 2019
This book is about a young woman. She does some strange things that makes her to do things that are not right. Her stepfather or father goes to look for his missing daughter. Detective Bennett will not give up on his daughter Melissa.
Melissa wants to protect her daughter Abby. Though for some reason Melissa has gone missing and after hearing her name called and knocking at the door. Her family is weary of what has happened to her sister in law and brother. Though she calls a friend and tell him nothing and ask for help.
Melissa thinks she is safe after running. Something is wrong and no one can find her. She claim someone is after her and has to flee once again. What happens next is just another page turner. I would advise who reads this. This is best for those that need to be mature enough to read for it got some violence and some nastier words like the word (B**ch).

Georgina DeBurca (2 KP) rated Paranormal Protection Agency (Paranormal Protection Agency, #1 - #5) in Books
Jan 29, 2018
I'm Not going to reveal any spoilers. This book features books 1-5 of the Paranormal protection agency series by Mina Carter.
My overall impression: It was an extremely well written and well thought out series. The stories are quick reads but in my opinion that is a good thing. Especially for women who have lots they have to do such as working and looking after the kids. I would have plowed through this in one day if not for my children, but it's fine because I can get to the end of a part and put it down and come back to it.
The characters were amazing to meet. The men were strong and domineering. The women were sometimes equally as strong but just needed a bit of brute strength in assistance.
The love scenes were hot hot hot. The men sexy, the women wanton. I loved it.
I'd definitely advise you buy this and read it. You won't be disappointed.

Georgina DeBurca (2 KP) rated Seduced by the Scrum-Half (Strathstow Sharks, #2) in Books
Jan 29, 2018
I received this in return for an honest review, so here goes.
This is my first Mina Carter experience and I wasnt disappointed. I won't give any of the story details away as that would be unfair to other readers.
It was impeccably well written. One of my pet peeves is reading a book that looks as though the author hasnt read it before publishing but this book doesn't fall into this category. It was a pleasure to read. A very easy to read novel, unless fanning yourself is hard :-P. So steamy I'm pretty sure it gave me a fever. The characters had sizzling sexual chemistry and on a whole I didn't want to put it down. The only thing I can say bad about the book is that the end left me wanting more, much more - but maybe that's my problem and not the books.
Would definitely recommend to friends that like hot and steamy reads.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2165 KP) rated The Scam in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The unlikely duo of criminal Nick Fox and FBI Agent Kate O’Hare are after a casino owner who is knowingly helping launder money that goes to terrorists. But as their con is set in motion, things quickly spiral out of control. Will they be able to turn their target into an FBI asset?
These books are always light, fun reads and this book is no exception. The characters could have more depth, but they are developed enough to keep my interest, and the crew that Nick and Kate always pull together is half the fun. The twists and plentiful and the ride is fun. I’m very anxious to get my hands on the next in the series.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is one of the most fun reads I've ever had.
I kinda love this book, and the Audio Book is read by Wil Wheaton which is kinda perfect. I even love the dystopian future aspect, where everyone spends all the time online, plugged in to the Oasis. And here within it in a big mystery, with shades of willy wonka. Here is this everyday geek, who through hard work, determination and cunning deciphering of the codes and clues makes a run at the greatest prize of his time. Once agai on fo the most fun books I've ever read, and I really hope the movie coming out soon lives up to the feel, I already know it won't have everything as no movie is ever a complete version, but I feel that steven spielberg at least has the chops to take it on and do it justice. I hope I'm not wrong.
Heather Cranmer (2721 KP) rated Dangerous Waters (The Guernsey Novels, #1) in Books
Jun 7, 2018
What a refreshing read!! I absolutely loved it & can not fault anything about it!
The pacing was just right for this book. The characters were great! I especially loved Jeanne and Molly! Nick was great as well. I couldn't stand Marcus though. He seemed to be too needy and pushy which is what I think the author was trying to convey.
The plot is fairly predictable although there was one twist I didn't see coming!! However, this didn't put me off.
Dangerous Waters is such a sweet read, and it's reads so easily! Anne Allen is fantastic at writing. This is her first novel, but it would seem that she's been writing for ages with how well this book was done.
The story just works. And this book has made me want to visit Guernsey!
I loved the fact that the author included recipes at the end of the book as well. A nice touch!

Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated School for Psychics (School for Psychics, #1) in Books
Jul 10, 2018
I'm 19% finished with this book and I have to put it down. My life is too short to read books that I cannot get into.
I was really excited to read this book. The advertising was spectacular and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to read a "Harry Potter with millenials." Unfortunately this book has fell so flat I'm having to DNF it. The characters seem to be extremely chiche & their descriptions were just awful. If this is supposed to be adult fiction you really don't need to have a description being "the hot" guy. I would expect more from any author.
The plot line seemed interesting enough but the writing has ruined any chance for me to enjoy it. It reads like a mix between young adult and middle grade fiction. This would be all fine and dandy if it wasn't being advertised as adult fiction.
All in all, I would not recommend this book.

Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Life of Pi in Books
Jul 10, 2018
The "Life of Pi" was a slow but semi interesting read. I went into this book knowing that it was about a boy stuck on a raft with a tiger. That was definitely the interesting part of the book. I found myself wanting this book to just end, or get to the "good" part.
The main take away from the book is that you need something to believe in when you face an "impossible" situation. I found Pi's struggle with religion insightful and his practicing of three religions a little different.
This was definitely not my typical read. I am one of those readers who likes fast reads. I want to finish a book in two days because I can't put it down, not because I want the book to end.
All in all, it was an okay book. It kept me semi entertained but it wasn't the "life changing" book that I was told about.

A generally breathtaking novel that will leave you wanting more of The Cast's story.
A generally breathtaking novel that will leave you wanting more of The Cast's story.
I was tremendously astounded with how much I loved this novel. It was a lot different from what I've read before and honestly, I don't think I've read a lot of Adult Fiction. This was a 'breath of fresh air while also maintaining a serious undertone' read. Serious topics were talked about and honestly pulled at each and every heartstring, allowing me to imagine myself going through exactly what The Cast went through. The Cast was a different read because of the characters being of a Jewish community, so it was fun to see how that played out and developed with some of the characters. Honestly, all of the Hebrew really intrigued me. I definitely recommend to those who want a bit different of a read.
