It's a shame Clare Darcy is out of print, as her books are really enjoyable Regency Romances in the style of Georgette Heyer. I read Gwendolen pretty much in one sitting and with a smile on my face.

The Spanish Bride is one of Heyer's Regency novels, but unlike the others we are not in the social whirl of the Ton. Most of the action takes place during the Penninsular War and Harry and Juana are real historical characters. I did enjoy this, but it might not be what you are expecting.

Does anyone have a favourite genre for historical fiction? I do like the elegance of the Regency, but the further back in history you go, the less is know and the more there is for an author to fill in, so medieval is quite a feature of my bookshelves. I also like a good historical mystery.

I really get on my high horse about it at times. I don’t mind if authors acknowledge it, and say that it is not quite right, but it didn’t work as a story, but I get a little upset when they try to pass it off as fact ;)

I've had things that have stopped me in my tracks before, thinking "that's not right!". A little learning is a dangerous thing :-)

Tabitha's Tangle (Herberts, #4)

There is something so delightful and relaxing about a Regency romance. Maybe it's the manners, so very proper, at least on the outside, that soothes my temperament. Whatever it is, I needed a familiar read, so I reached for a Regency to fit the bill.

TABITHA'S TANGLE afforded me the luxury of sinking back in time of grace and romantic entanglements. While the little bit of mystery is obvious, the courtship between Tabitha and Hugh is sweet enough to make up for it. The two leads are absolutely charming and I enjoyed every moment of their struggle do what is right and still get what they want. While at times I thought the pacing slow, mainly it was due to my impatience rearing its head. A lovely way to pass a few hours with.
