These stories were very cute, the illustrations were wonderful, and parts of them had great messages for kids about bullying, being on earth for a reason, and responsibility. However the philosophy behind them is all wrong. The philosophy consists of “oneness with everything” and “made of the same energy” and “we are Divine presence,” and “we are truth” and “Makes no difference the religion”. It is a worldly viewpoint, and I do not come from that viewpoint.

Again, there some great messages in these books, but I personally won’t be sharing them with the children in my life because of the strength of the new-age views that shine through.

Angela's Ashes was an extremely heavy, tragic but touching memoir peppered with humor and emotion and love. Frank McCourt is a master at telling stories, but this memoir of his Irish Catholic family, spans so many subjects, so creatively and so beautifully - from family, to love, religion, sickness, abandonment, poverty... The hardship that immigrants had to go through is heartbreaking - as is their strength, and will to survive and make better lives for themselves. So much emotion after reading this. I don't know if this story will leave me for awhile. Definitely something for the mature reader, and definitely something that stays within you.

I raged, I cried, I doubted... An absolute must-read!!

Imagine if, after the term of our first black President ended, a new totalitarian leader is elected.. Small changes are made, the Southern States, where religion rules, starts to grow and take over the country, converting all those in its path. News channels owned and fed by the government, women silenced, pushing our country back to the 50's as the rest of the world sits by and laughs at us. Sound eerily familiar? Can't imagine why... This book blew me away every step of the way. I raged, I cried, I doubted... An absolute must-read!!

The Lady of Misrule is a fictional account of Lady Jane Grey's incarceration in the Tower of London from the perspective of her companion, Elizabeth.

Suzannah Dunn emphasises Jane's innocence and the ludicrous reasons for her imprisonment. At a time when changes in religion were causing death and unrest, it was a crime merely to think a different way to the monarch, let alone be a "pretender" queen.

Despite the narrative, there was nothing the author could do to avoid its foregone conclusion. What is shocking, however, is the unexpected suddenness of the event, Jane's pious strength and the devastating shock felt by Elizabeth.
