Better than prequels. Not so much the originals.
Starring: John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and Harrison Ford.

With the weight of the entire franchise and fans who have been burnt once before, Abrams had a monumental task to achieve in revitalising the Star Wars saga. Having had a huge amount of success with Star Trek, Abrams was the obvious choice for Disney.

With elements from all three of the original films and completely ignoring the second trilogy in every way it could, it would appear that 'The force Awakens' knew what it was doing, with enough nostalgia to take anyone back to the 70's.
Unfortunately that's where things go wrong.
The film shifts tone with such regularity it just seems confused and panicked as to what needs to be done. Instead of moments of humour and clever nods to the previous films, it vomits bucket loads of both which is more distracting than entertaining.
This is possibly the closest you can get to a remake without calling it a remake, where the ethos just seems to be "make it the same but bigger."
Instead of a continuation of the story, we are offered a setting up film. Don't we have six of those?

Luke warm pursuit
This looked OK from the trailer, didn't realise it was a remake of a Norwegian film. It looked like it would have a decent amount of action with some humour.
In reality there is a bit of action, nothing amazing, mainly some shoot outs. The humour though just didn't hit the mark for me. I'm not sure if there were trying for a Tarantino type of angle or more comic book but it just falls flat largely. Another role for Liam Neeson like his last several roles of everyday guy turned badass all of a sudden.
So just average overall, check out @6 Underground (2019) instead for tons of action and laughs.

Spooky Scary Ghost
Thir13en Ghost: is a remake horror movie that was distributed by Dark Castle Entertainment, that relased the remakes of The Haunting and House on Haunted Hill both terrible films. So how is this film, its not terrible, but not great.

The plot: A state-of-the-art remake of the classic William Castle horror film about a family that inherits a spectacular old house from an eccentric uncle. There's just one problem: the house seems to have a dangerous agenda all its own. Trapped in their new home by strangely shifting walls, the family encounters powerful and vengeful entities that threaten to annihilate anyone in their path

The main problem with this movie is that their dont explain the ghosts backstories and you have to look them up. Their are distubing and i wish the film explain them.

Other than that, i think the film is good and is better than the pervious dark castle films remakes.

I think this movie is underrated and should be watched.

Slightly atypical Laurel and Hardy short, presumably because it's a remake of a silent non-L&H film. This explains why Stan and Ollie play successful businessmen looking to get into politics rather than the usual perennially useless goons, why it feels more like a farce than usual, and why the boys spend a lot of the film apart.

That said, there are some quite good bits: Ollie's glances to the camera are first class, and there are some epic double-takes from Jimmy Finlayson as Ollie's butler. It is undeniably funny, but you do get a sense of a film not quite making best use of its strongest assets.

To watch or not to watch
If you currently have an HBO subscription then you need to add this to your watch list right away. It's not one of Mel Brooks bigger title films, but it should be as it's just as witty and funny. A remake of a 1940s film, it stays true to the classic with a touch of Brooks. A polish theater troupe in Warsaw use their love of the stage to fool the nazis and escape the ghetto. It's a farce in the truest form, and when this movie makes you laugh, you will be rolling.

I was a huge fan of the original. The live action remake is faithful, maybe too faithful especially given the director is bare knuckle boxing fan Guy Ritchie. Will Smith is good as Genie. He carries the comedy and romance well. The actress playing Jasmine is a revelation especially in her big solo. My only complaint which is not about the film just a preference is they should have taken a risk and turned the musical numbers into full Bollywood productions.

A remake of the German film Das Experiment which was based on a real social study in the 70's. It has a good cast and is an interesting topic to see how peoples behaviour can change given a certain situation. Everyone has a breaking point and acts differently when given power, authority or treated badly. People can change very quickly from what you expect and within a group. However the film is quite brutal at times, but I just felt the ending let it down a bit. Still worth a watch.
