Not The Bad
This Remake/Reboot of Planet of the Apes isnt that bad. The action is good, the acting is good, the sci-fi is good. Its that ending that made no sense. Im not sure why people didnt like this film, that its one of the worst remake's/reboots of all time. Its not their are others remakes/reboots that are worst than this.
The plot: Astronaut Leo Davidson whips through space and time to a world where apes and gorillas rule the humans. Captured, he is nurtured by Ari and hunted by General Thade as he leads a rebel group of humans and chimpanzees in search of his downed craft. This is his only hope of escape and, ironically, the planet's only hope of shaking off the tyranny of the gorillas, allowing peaceful humans and chimpanzees to co-exist.
I think its a good film.

Disjointed L&H slapstick comedy, one of their last films for Hal Roach. Originally made as a 40-minute 'streamlined feature' and was extended to 62 minutes by the addition of an opening section which is a tidied-up remake of their 1928 short From Soup to Nuts; naturally, this has no connection with the rest of the story. Stan and Ollie try their hands at catering (badly), stop a robbery (accidentally) and as a reward are sent to Oxford University to better themselves. They antagonise the local students which leads to some surprising revelations as to Stan's past.
The individual sections are not too bad, but the episodic nature of the film means it feels longer than an hour; there are some good bits, but also a sense of the boys having run out of ideas and either repeating themselves or trying too hard. Spotting Peter Cushing (this is possibly the best-known of the films he made while in Hollywood for a couple of years as a young man) adds to the fun, though.

All i can really remember about the 1969 original is that it is a crime caper, starring Michael Caine, and that it involves Mini Coopers.
As such, I'm not sure whether to class this as a remake, a reimagining or something else entirely!
This version stars Mark Wahoberg, Cherlize Theron, Donald Sutherland, Jason Staham and Oz-from-Buffy (Seth Green) and starts with a heist in Venice: a successful heist, with the perpetrators then betrayed by Ed Norton's 'Steve', who leaves them all for dead.
The rest of the film - mainly set in the States - then follows the remainder of the crew and their quest to get even against Steve, in a plot that yes, once again, involves the use of Mini Coopers!
It would hardly be The Italian Job without said cars, after all ....

Great reboot of a great franchise
As usual, when I first heard they were going to remake one of my all time favorite franchises, I was very concerned especially after the weird Tim Burton version.
I could not have been more wrong. The entire tone of the film was magnificent and very much in line with the intent of the original series. There were many homages to the earlier films, but also plenty of new stuff including the amazing CGI work animating the Apes and giving them personality.
The ending sequence on the bridge was also spectacular and set up the transition to the next film quite well.

Bad mustache, decent movie
The impressive cast assembled for this film is definitely the high point in this latest remake. "Perfect" looking movies like this are always very pretty, but almost too good. The train/outdoor CGI looked a little fake to me and took me out of the film during a few of the outdoor shots.
The acting was all very good and the complicated story was interesting and kept me guessing as to the eventual perpetrator; however, I thought it was a tad anticlimactic.
The suspects slowly reveal their motives and partial truths which make the ending a little more interesting.
Overall, I was never bored while watching, but just thought it was missing something which kept it from greatness.

Hmm
I was looking forward to this after having watched and enjoyed the original Swedish Girl with the Dragon tattoo series of films. Even the US remake of the original was very good because the story was just very interesting.
This feels very different. From the Bond like opening credits and plot about a programme that can hack any nuclear missile world wide. It's very broad in scope... Without actually having a big plot feel to it. It's not a bad film, it's an ok Thriller. After the high standards set by the other films though this is a step down. Check out the the Swedish ones if you haven't seen them.

Good performances
Hilarious remake of the original
So where to start with 21 jump street. At first glance, you have two lead actors in there primes. Two comedic actors in there primes. Add that together with a fair script and you will have a good combination for a comedic film.
The performances of both Tatum and hill are on point and the supporting actors match them as well. With The only downfall I could really pick out would be there a fair bit of silent scenes where it's the obvious slapstick comedy.. For me, it doesn't pay off.
That being said, I would still watch this film again and still laugh, the plot is good, the performances are on point and the comedy albeit slapstick is still funny.

This is still my favourite of all the GTA games. It was just so much fun to play! The right balance of serious story and silly little things you could do.
The soundtrack has a load of great 80s hits, plus a few tracks made for the game. The inspired bit though were the ads - Blox, that kills germs... and everything else! Musty Pines old people's home, Giggle Cream - all just so funny! Also the talk radio, which is not something I'd usually listen to in real life, but did occasionally in game because it was so fun.
If there was any game I wish they did a remake of (keeping the same quests etc but modern graphics), this would be it.

Bafflingly superfluous and redundant mid-budget remake of the classic horror blockbuster. American diplomat and his wife discover their adopted son is a right little devil.
In no way an actively bad film, but given it cleaves so closely to the original, what exactly is the point of it? You would expect that the inclusion of a top-billed Julia Stiles would mean the character of Thorn's wife would be beefed up and given a little bit of agency in the plot (heaven knows she could use some); but no, the focus is still on the manly men doing masculine male things together. Pretty well cast, but you could guess who's playing which part just from looking at a list of actors, it is that unimaginative and unsurprising. Worth watching only if you've never seen the original and are unlikely ever to do so.
