This frankly stunning book, begins like many women’s normal, everyday evenings: getting the children ready for bed on their own, waiting for their husband to get in from their commute.

Lucy enjoys her alone time think, and enjoys the time she spends with her children. She works from home since having had the children. She had a good job, had even started to study for a PhD at one point, and she appears to be happy with her life as it is. Until an unexpected phone call one evening. Jake, her husband, is late home from work, and the stranger on the phone tells Lucy that her husband is having an affair with his wife. Lucy is stunned. Jake is full of remorse when she tells him, and he tells her that she can punish him three times - as long as they stay together.

This book looks at how punishment skirts very closely to revenge, and the effect that it can have on your own sanity. It uses mythology and the myth of the Harpy, to exact that revenge. As time progresses and Lucy becomes more embroiled in her Harpy-like acts of revenge, there are excerpts that seem to come from a Harpy’s point of view. I liked these parts. They seemed to revel in the feelings of vengeance, something that all ‘nice’ girls are taught not to do. Instead of turning the other cheek, Lucy goes for full-on retribution.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. It’s a short, totally absorbing read, and is the second book I’ve read and enjoyed by Megan Hunter. I’m looking forward to whatever comes next!

Fun, Rube Goldberg-esque setups, beautiful (as always with Jeunet) (0 more)
not as hard hitting as some of his other work, somewhat cartoony (0 more)
A fun romp, but not Jeunet's best
This is really good, my expectations for the director are somewhat unfairly high. It is a story about revenge and poetic justice, yet manages to be fun. A little magical, and a lot whimsical. Really good for people who are not put off by zany and stylized things. (Same category, but different flavor to Wes Anderson, say)

When mystery author Tracey Eaton heads to New York for her sister-in-law's wedding, she finally gets her first real life mystery. The bride has vanished and the family wants to cover it up. Why? This is my third time through the book, and I enjoy it each time. Still have a couple of small issues with the ending, but they are minor.

Bad a**
This movie follows a woman seeking revenge for the deaths of her husband and daughter. She first trusts the system to find justice, but after corruption allows the individuals responsible to walk free she takes matters into her own hands.
This is a great movie with lots of action. She's constantly taking out gang members, and she has the police and the gang chasing her throughout the movie. The movie also challenges the viewer to question whether or not her actions are acceptable.

fantastic second book
This is the second book in this series by these authors. Wow, what a second book, these authors have done it again with this book. This book starts right after book one "Without consequence" finishes. Same well written fantastic characters from the first book. This book will suck you into the pages of the story. This story is all about revenge. I can't wait to read more from this authors in the future.

Highly recommended second book in this series
