Let The Bats Fly
The Devil Bat- a nice classic black and white horror film that starred Bela Lugosi as the villian. Which he is excellent and perfect as. Bela Lugosi perfects the villain role. I love him as a actor. Anways back to The Devil Bat.
The plot: Dr. Paul Carruthers (Bela Lugosi) is frustrated because he thinks his employers, Mary Heath (Suzanne Kaaren) and Henry Morton (Guy Usher), have cheated him out of the company's profits. He decides to get revenge by altering bats to grow twice their normal size and training them to attack when they smell a perfume of his own making. He mixes the perfume into a lotion, which he offers as a gift to Mary and Henry. When they turn up dead, a newspaper reporter (Dave O'Brien) decides to investigate.
Its a classic fun entertaining horror movie with bats attacking people and their master is Bela Lugosi so that is a plus.

An average thriller
I recall watching this at the cinema when this was first released and thought it was alright, and watching it again 5 years later my view hasn't really changed.
This has a good cast, I always love Jason Bateman and it's nice to see Joel Edgerton directing and acting and I think he does a good job in both. The plot itself seems very similar to other stalker/obsessive/revenge films but it's still quite entertaining and fortunately not overly long. The problem is I wouldnt say this is particularly thrilling or tense. The ending is a little surprising but it feels rather lacklustre in general as a psychological thriller. I also found character motivations and actions to be a little unusual and unexplainable, to the point it makes the film even more unbelievable than it is to begin with.
Overall it's an average watchable psychological drama which is sadly ultimately forgettable.

not really one for me
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
I'm really not sure I liked this book, and mostly cos I did not get the ending, it made little sense to me!
It's a dark book, certainly. There is (but not detailed) reference to child abuse, both physical and sexual. It's there, you know? Ella talks about what happens to her, but we don't get it all. There is bloodshed, and a lot of it at the beginning and the end.
Only Ella has a say, so it made the perplexing ending a little more so. Daman is given a voice in the epilogue though.
Ella voice is strong though, and even what she went through, she manages to get her revenge.
What Ella does say is well written, and well delivered. I finished it, so for that reason. . .
3 stars

What Are You?
I seen this film twice now, once back in 2019 when it came out and once couple days ago and im still confused what this film is trying to be, cause i have no idea what its surpost to be. Is it surpost to be a comedy film, a drama film, a action or all above? I have no clue.
The plot: Nels Coxman's quiet life as a snowplow driver comes crashing down when his beloved son dies under mysterious circumstances. His search for the truth soon becomes a quest for revenge against a psychotic drug lord named Viking and his sleazy henchmen. Transformed from upstanding citizen to coldblooded vigilante, Coxman unwittingly sets off a chain of events that includes a kidnapping, a series of deadly misunderstandings and a turf war between Viking and a rival boss.
If your confused as i am than dont watch this film, but if you like Liam Neeson kicking ass than watch this film.

Homage to the 80s part 1
As a fan of 80s and 90s horrors the trailer drew me in but with mild concern.
As stated in the title, this is an obvious homage to the 80s (and early 90s) bringing in likenesses of Wes Wraven (scream) and Sam Raimi (Evil dead) in in wonderful mashup of horror.
Set in a small town seemingly cursed with bad luck, a group of teens find themselves hunted by a dead witch whose sole purpose is to take revenge on the town for her execution a few hundred years before.
On the run and hunted by demonicly possessed victims from years prior, time is not in their side as the teens seek a way to end the chase before they meet a bloody and gruesome end.
The first of a trilogy that did not disappoint and the start of what could potentially be something great.

Superb twisted take on the superhero genre
I read these a few years ago, but following the recent superb TV series, I have decided to re-read them. Volume 1 brings together the first 6 issues of the comic.
This first volume gives an introduction to the boys, and their purpose, and the fact that the world is now full of twisted, power-hungry superheroes, who have corporate sponsorship.
Hughie is devastated when his girlfriend becomes collateral damage in a fight between supes, and is quickly invited into the boys to seek revenge.
Unlike the TV series, the boys don't go straight after The Seven, preferring a lower profile target to make their comeback known. They go after Teenage Kix, a group of young superheroes who engage in all manners of unsavoury antics behind closed doors. Through spying, blackmail and eventual violence, the boys take down this group and make their purpose known.
Brilliant artwork, fantastic dialogue and a real twisted, yet believable, storyline.
