Debbiereadsbook (1608 KP) rated The Dangers of Loving a Rogue in Books
Feb 13, 2023
very much a HIT for me!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this! I found it a lot of fun, spattered with some drama, some bloodshed and some smexy times, and I want to read more of this author.
I loved that Celia was not going to be a proper lady of her time and was going to do what she wanted. Even if she really wanted her bethrothed AND Jackson!
I loved that jackson was, for a pirate, a proper gentleman with Celia, at least til he had a taste.
I loved Jackson's support network and I absolutely did NOT see the twist of who Celia's bethrothed was to Jackson!
Historical romances and pirate romances have been a bit hit and miss for me, but this is most definately a HIT!

Bethr1986 (305 KP) rated Plain Like Vanilla: An American Tale in Books
May 17, 2023
Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
Vanilla has been in an accident. She has woken with no recollection of who she is or has been. She has tried everything so far to try and jog her memory so her family resort to the only thing they have left the center. Maybe she will discover a lot more than herself.
I found this a very interesting story. There were a lot of things happening. I like the way that we, as a reader, go along with the same amnesia that Vanilla has, and that we follow every step that she takes in her discovery to find out who she is. There are a lot of heartaches involved and some of the stuff she finds out is gut-wrenching but it makes it more interesting and gives more motivation to find out what has happened.
I recommend this.

Haley Mathiot (9 KP) rated Quick Crocheted Accessories in Books
Apr 27, 2018
When I look for a pattern book, I look for something that has a lot of patterns that I’ve never seen before, or wouldn’t not think up on my own (since I’m a bit of a free-former and pattern-maker myself). The books I’m really impressed with are the ones that are full of original pieces that strike me, but look do-able and manageable. Now I realize that’s a pretty high bar to set. But as a reviewer and a crocheter, I wouldn’t spend money on a book that was anything less than that.
Quick Crocheted Accessories has two patterns that I really like and was impressed with, that I haven’t seen before. There were three others that I’d seen similar things, but I really liked Zientara’s design. All the others were relatively simple, unexciting, or things I’ve seen before.
The photos were very nice, and the book has both diagrams and instructions. But I would have liked to see more original accessories.

Entertainment Editor (1988 KP) rated Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game in Tabletop Games
Mar 7, 2018
Next to the iconic light saber battles, nothing excites a Star Wars fan more than the epic space battles. The original Star Wars trilogy had some of the most unique and beautifully designed space ships in all of science fiction. For its time, the X-Wing was a truly iconic piece of special effects. With the introduction of Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures game from Fantasy Flight Games, players can now have their own space battles with these memorable ships. Does Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures have what it takes to score a victory on you table top or should it be encased in carbonite? Read on to find out!
Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures is a miniatures game of space combat for 2 players. The game players in about 30-60 minutes and can be expanded to accommodate more players.

Entertainment Editor (1988 KP) rated Ora et Labora in Tabletop Games
Mar 7, 2018
Ora et Labora
Who woulda thought? In 2007 (way before I was gaming) amongst the many new games released at Spiel, one stuck out especially. A game where you try to build a well-balanced farm consisting of crops, pastures and growing your family. No, I am not talking about Farmville! (I get that question over and over from newbies….ugh), I’m talking about Agricola. A game that has now conjured up a slew of awards from “Best complex game” by the Spiel des Jahres to even dethroning Puerto Rico’s 5 year running of highest rated game on the Geek. Uwe Rosenberg, the designer of the now much loved Agricola, has recently released “Ora et Labora” – A hot-off-the-press / sold-out almost everywhere game that I have very quickly formed an extreme love/hate relationship with.
So the good is the game rocks!

Entertainment Editor (1988 KP) rated Ticket to Ride: Europe in Tabletop Games
Mar 7, 2018
I have owned Ticket to Ride: Europe for a long time and it’s not a game that I will be removing from my collection anytime soon. The first time I played the game I was amazed at how quickly the rules could be learned. It takes little time for you to start understanding the nuances of this game. Whenever I teach any edition of Ticket to Ride to someone who hasn’t played board games for years, I tell them that I can get them to completely understand this game in three rounds. I have yet to fail at doing so. The game doesn’t bog down with complicated calculations or actions. With four simple choices for actions each turn, game play moves at a lightning pace. I have found very few people that don’t like the game after playing it numerous times. This is a great accomplishment for any game.
