Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Damsels: Mermaids #0 in Books
Jan 11, 2021
Good
My first foray into a graphic novel that wasn't romance related. I liked it, it was imaginative and the art was pretty cool. I'd be interested in carrying on the series.

This was my first time reading a novel like this but it is certainly not my last. I cannot think of a single thing missing or should be added. I love historical romance and wanted to try an MM romance. I found that I enjoyed it much more than usual romance because the couple was not dealing with the same old problems you read about in every historical romance. It was something fresh and new, with an amazing lead couple.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Rarely have I found such a nicely balanced novel that grabs my attention from page one. I wasnt expecting this novel to be as amazing as it was nor can I find words to adequately describe it. It fits into so many genres with ease. It is listed as romance and fantasy, but it has a heavy dose of action as well. You would think that this would subtract from characters and story, but the novel is well written. The world is developed and as someone who enjoys fantasy, I loved the authors interpreted world, creatures, and mythology. The characters are also multidimensional and dynamic.
While I am a huge fan of fantasy, the romance is what really completed this novel for me. The author really knew what she was doing. Bottom line, if you are looking for a well-rounded fantasy romance with enjoyable characters and a fantastical world, this is definitely a novel for you.

I had high hopes for this book although the cover almost turned me off. The blurb made it seem like a quirky type of romance but it was very repetitive and contrived. This could have gone somuch better if the book didn't seem to have an identity crisis between being a cute romance and an erotic novel.

ArecRain (8 KP) rated Bad Romance in Books
Jan 18, 2018
Well rounded and in-depth, Bad Romance feels like a true novel and not just an excuse to write a stepbrother romance. That is a trope that can go wrong very quickly but that author managed to juggle it well along with the rest of the novels drama.
It is easy to get caught up in the passion and emotions of Bad Romance. I found myself burning with rage at the useless parents, especially since they felt realistic. At first, the lead couples personalities annoyed me, but it was rewarding to watch their story unfold.
If you are looking for a romance filled with passion, both in and out of the bedroom, Bad Romance is definitely for you. If the stepbrother trope puts you off, dont be. Their parents were barely married before he left so there was no creepy of gross factor attached.

Erika (17788 KP) rated The Twelve Dates of Christmas in Books

I typically don't read these sorts of novels, romance novels are typically not my thing. However, I do love a not too mushy Christmas romance on occasion, and after reading In a Holidaze, I was still in the mood for something silly.
As with every romance novel, super predictable, you could tell what was going to happen by reading the plot synopsis. It was a nice, quick read and was what I needed at the time.

Jamie (57 KP) rated The Cowboy's Homecoming (The Cowboy Series, #8) in Books

I am not a big romance novel reader, especially Harlequin Romance, but this story was good. The inspiration series was not that bad. I liked the story a lot. Seemed more real, seemed like the guy was respectful of woman and treated them with respect and kindness instead of dragging them off to who knows where and take advantage of them.
