ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A boss romance involving BDSM. Sounds like the perfect recipe right? I thought so too, but I wasn’t 100% happy with this novel. On one hand, the erotic scenes were as graphic as they were hot. The chemistry between the leads was undeniable.

The being said, I wanted to punch the heroine in the face on multiple occasions. Okay, I know that is a bit extreme. Overreactions aside, she could be pretty obnoxious. I understand that she is supposed to have the “PTSD from past abuse” back story but she over the top with it. Even after the long extensive conversations with her best friend about the BDSM community, she still can’t separate from abuse. Even after going to the club and seeing consenting couples enjoying themselves. She still can’t separate it from abuse. I had to put the book down multiple times because she was so annoying.

If that doesn’t bother you, or you can get past that aspect, the story is pretty enjoyable.

For anyone who is searching for a series of books to keep them entertained into the foreseeable future. 'The Seven Sisters' was released in 2014 and, so far, three others have been published at the rate of one per year, 'The Storm Sister', 'The Shadow Sister' and 'The Pearl Sister'.
Maia D'Aplise and her sisters were all adopted as babies by the elusive billionaire Pa Salt. Now they have all gathered together at their childhood home 'Atlantis:, a mansion on the shores of Lake Geneva, having been told that their adopted father has died and already been buried at sea. Each of the sisters is handed a clue to their true heritage and Maia traces her own path across the world to Brazil. This novel follows her story as she puts together how her own life began. These books have been extremely popular since their release, each of them an adventure with history, mystery and romance thrown in. This book just wasn't for me, and I'm really sad about it because I'd heard nothing but good things. I totally appreciate what the author was trying to do with the sentiment that just because someone is chronically ill doesn't make them any less desirable or mean they can't experience life and pleasure and I actually really liked that aspect of the novel along with the representation of a man recovering from abuse and that's the main reason I'm even giving it two stars but on a whole, it just didn't work for me. I found the development lacklustre, they hated each other for about ten seconds before they were both attracted to each other and I just wanted more buildup (or just have them not hate each other at all that works too) and it was just a little too steamy for my personal tastes. Romance novels are such a personal thing, and I totally appreciate why so many people love this book, but it just didn't work for me!
