It is a beautiful story of a girl who’s appearance has been licked by fire. She must learn her true identity, fight against feelings and become a daughter of the flames.

Deborah (162 KP) rated Having the Decorators in (Dame Constance de Clair, #2) in Books

Brilliant stuff! I absolutely loved this book, and also Having the Builders In, which comes before this. It's only sad that there aren't any more in the series. It's a nice, light read and made me smile while retaining a good sense of historical period and accuracy.

I rate this with a 3 since there aren't any half ratings ...this is more a 3.5 star review. I was both happy and sad with this book. Sad, because unlike with the BDB, I wasn't instantly sucked into the story line. It took me a long time to get into the story and really feel apart of it. That said, the characters were intriguing and definitely full of emotion that I could feel. I hope that the next book in Ward's Bourbon Kings series is easier to get into.

Dana (24 KP) rated If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) in Books

Ow. Just ow. This story was so beautiful and sad to read. I really enjoyed how Gayle Forman was able to break up the more sad parts of the story with happy flashbacks on Mia's life. This had a perfect ending. The cello was such a huge part of Mia's life, and it showed very much through out the story. What a magnificent piece of literature. I am so glad they made this into a movie. I am really excited to be able to see it. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves stories about love, life, and what it means to live.

Micky Barnard (542 KP) rated How to Stop Time in Books
Sep 30, 2018
This is my first read by Matt Haig. HOW TO STOP TIME is unique, deep, sometimes long-winded, sad, desperate and interesting. It has a past-present approach to story telling that worked very well.
The protagonist, Tom doesn’t age, at least not normally. He’s met Shakespeare, he’s loved but he’s lost so deeply and he remembers so much. This is a tale of such longing and of the inertia of existing for so long. It’s tragic, not particularly uplifting or depressing but it left me somewhat sad.
I particularly enjoyed the original storyline but I struggled occasionally with the pacing.
The audio narration, male single POV was very good.

I'm not a big fan of British shows , or British humor. This show is great. Starts off very exciting and action packed. It's hard that the main characters change. Makes me sad because just as you get attached to them in one season they change in the next.
