This was so much fun. Alien worms turning animals and humans into zombies set in the 90s what’s not to love? I mean really! It was fast paced and so retro especially to someone who grew up in the 90s. Loved the characters and the story was so touching and sad in places. I was so glad I got chosen for this arc.

This was so good and the perfect follow on and final book in this series. After such an emotional rollercoaster I’m sad to see it come to an end. If I had one slight moan was that I just found a few bits drawn out.
Not sure I’d still be around after such a betrayal though!

This book was just creepy as hell in some parts and I’m referring to Poppy if you’ve read it the hairs on the back of my neck stood up! I’m sad to see this all wrapped up as the series was so good. I think I may have to start over.

The Last One had me riveted from the first page. I mean, what must be going on in the mind of Will Dean that makes him write like this? I’ve asked the same question many times before of Stephen King, and I could see him writing something along these lines 30 years ago: a woman wakes up on a cruise ship that holds over 1000 people - and they’re all gone. Every single one of them. Where could they be? The boat is out at sea - surely the boat can’t have been evacuated and she’s just left there alone?
And it just gets stranger and stranger. There were times that I really didn’t want to read on. I hated Will Dean for writing certain things - how could he even think them?! 🤭 Genius. It made me feel supremely uncomfortable, angry, SO ANGRY, frustrated, and a bit sad, too.
I can’t/ won’t say any more about the plot. To say anything at all would be to give it away - and the reveal is EVERYTHING!
This is one of those books that I’ll be thrusting into peoples hands saying: “Read this, now! It’ll drive you MAD, but you’ll love it!!”

WATER WITCH is the first book in the Witches of Westwood Academy and we start off with Rio. Well, actually, we start off with Leanna Stolbright - a magical bloodhound, otherwise known as a magical scout. She finds Rio and issues her an invitation to join the Academy.
At twenty years old, Rio knows about magic. She also knows their bloodline is cursed as both her mother and grandmother died because of it. She is excited to go but sad to leave her grandfather behind.
There isn't a lot of world-building so you just sort of go with it. I would have liked a bit more of that and definitely more character-building, especially between Rio and Magnus, and Rio and Otto.
This was a quick and easy read with plenty of questions left unanswered. I am hoping some get answered in the next book. A great coffee-break book that I happily recommend.

Man do I love action movies, but this one seemed to get out of control sometimes. I really do like the XXX series but there were somethings I would change about this one. The fact that Xander Cage was dead and come back was fine, but I would have liked a little back story on where he was hanging out. It also felt like he was doing a good job staying off the grid so finding him that easily and getting him on board felt simple.
The opening scene was OK, that's usually the part of the action movie that is supposed to grab you. But with Gibbons blowing up and not being a part of the movie was kind of sad. I really do like Vin and Sam's back and forth during the movie. Adding a little comedy the way they do is why I like their chemistry on screen. The rest of the plot was simple and straight forward. Only adding a few twists to a movie like this makes it more fun to watch and less to think about what is going on.
I like the addition of the XXX teams, it really showed that something was going on in between movies. Although it made is seem like the "bad" XXX team went rogue, but they were still trying to do right by the country. The team up between the 2 was fantastic, they finally realized they were on the same team and kicked some ass.
Now for the bad, there were times in this movie where the stunt work was too over the top even for me. You can do action without all the flipping and jumping. There are great stunt coordinators out there that can put together a great fight scene with out all extra stuff and still make it a good movie. There were also a few parts of the movie were you could tell it was CGI and not edited very well. The most notable was the motorcycle jet skis on the water. You really could tell how fake it was. Which is sad because it really could have been a cool scene.
Overall the movie was fun to watch, I would see the other 2 XXX movies before jumping into this one. There are a few hidden easter eggs that might make the watch more enjoyable. I wouldn't look to hard into the quality, just sit back and enjoy the show.

I’ve seen this book on my Twitter and Instagram and I finally gave in…I’m so glad and sad that I did. My heart! I swear! The sad thing is that the title really says it all, so you’re not blind sided, but there’s always that hope, right?
In this universe, there is a company called Death Cast – from 12 am to 3 am, they make these calls to people and inform that within 24 hours, they would die. Yeah. Someone from a cubicle call center calls you up and says you will die within the next 24 hours, they don’t know how but you will, and try to provide you with support.
Yeah, okay, you get a phone call that you’re about to die but then try to get some sort of sympathy or support – yeah, I definitely can’t do that job. And no, the people who work for Death Cast are NOT exempt from getting those calls.
For the most part, the story is told from two points of views, Mateo and Rufus. They both get the call in the same time frame. Other chapters are told from different people’s points of view that have some sort of ‘connection’ with the boys, even if it’s just in passing. Such as an old girlfriend of Rufus, or the Death Cast employee who gave him the alert that he would die.
I grew so attached to these boys! They were both dealt with some crappy hands. Mateo’s mother passes away and his father is in a coma. Rufus lives in an orphanage called ‘Pluto’ and has no blood family. I mean, damn! My poor boys!
“You may be born into a family, but you walk into friendships. Some you’ll discover you should put behind you. Others are worth every risk.”
Yes, I got emotional with this story, but this was so beautifully written. I adored Silvera’s way of writing this story. Granted, sometimes I don’t care for hearing about other people that are not Mateo and Rufus, but it was crucial to know what kind of world this was that Death Cast exists and nobody is exempt from it.
Don’t think of this as Final Destination. Nobody is trying to escape death (well, one was for a little bit), it’s a world where you can imagine what it would be like if you knew you were going to die soon, what would you do? How would you react? Is better knowing or not knowing?
“Maybe it’s better to have gotten it right and been happy for one day instead of living a lifetime of wrongs.”

Have you ever wondered what goes on inside that noggin of yours when your feeling angry, scared, sad or happy even? The producers and directors of Up and Toy Story have delved inside these emotions with their new film Inside Out. It is the latest and greatest film from Disney’s Pixar to open this summer. The film brought in some of the best comedic actors together and strategically placed them in the mind of an eleven year old girl.
Riley is an eleven year old girl from Minnesota. Her parents have made the difficult decision to uproot her and move to San Francisco for her fathers new job. Riley’s life is flipped upside down and inside out. She is guided only by her emotions as most of us are. Her thoughts are being manned by a control room of sorts. Joy (Amy Poehler) keeps everything at bay. As it is her soul purpose to keep Riley happy and all the other emotions away from the controls as much as possible. Although other emotions like Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) tend to creep in from time to time.
Her memories are color-coded specific to each emotion. Core memories are glowing. Sadness has become quite enamored with these glowing core memories and can’t help herself from touching the orbs turning all of the happy core memories into sad memories. As her mind short circuits it paves the path for fear, disgust and anger to take over. Joy must stop this from happening and retrieve core memories that are almost lost. Guiding them along the way is Bing Bong (Richard Kind), Riley’s imaginary friend who was thought to be forgotten.
Inside Out will literally give you a seat on the train of thought and will wind through all the twists and turns of the mind. With such an ambitious idea Pixar has proved once again that they can make a film that can relate to both young and old. It will definitely tug at the heartstrings. It did for me as I was about Riley’s age when I was uprooted to Costa Rica so I hold this film close to my heart. Lots of surprises, laughs and maybe even a few sniffles await you with this film and really shouldn’t be missed. A few hidden surprises also await the true Disney fan. Skip the 3D version not worth the extra couple dollars.
