Merissa (12919 KP) rated Bad Blood (Monsters of London #1) in Books
Mar 11, 2025
BAD BLOOD is the first book in the Monsters of London series and was just what I needed! I haven't read a good vampire book in a while and this one? Yeah, well, it was better than good.
Kieran is living in London with his friend, Sam. Lucien is one of the vampire chieftains. Kieran, Sam, and Lucien all have secrets that they're holding close and not sharing. Throw in wolves, mages, hunters, and 'normal' humans And then there's the new vampires killing on Kieran's doorstep. It all mixes together into a fantastic read that I was hard-pressed to put down.
If you're looking for an insta-lust wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am book then this isn't for you. If you're looking for a book with depth, secrets upon secrets, with an overarching mystery that doesn't get tied up all neatly with a bow, then you should definitely give this one a go.
I can't wait to see what happens next. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.

Book Divas (227 KP) rated Forget Me Always (Lovely Vicious #2) in Books
Dec 12, 2017
Book two of this series does not disappoint!! All the characters are back and this story line has even more secrets than the first one. You can't help but to fall in love with this author's writing as she quickly pulls you into the story and keeps you enthralled until the bitter end. I can't wait to read the next one!!

Good
The book is my least favorite in the series. I actually started with Chamber of Secrets and came back to this one after I finished the first few books.
It's not terrible, and I would recommend it, because it gets better as the book goes on. The characters are likable, even the ones you love to hate.

Not my cup of tea
Not my type of book. Story was rather bland but that's how I feel romantic books. The characters were a bit annoying, like teenagers having a 'relationship' or an extended episode of Dawson's Creek. It's about a man and woman who attempt to have a relationship despite having secrets - that's the extent of the book.

Multiple perspectives done right
I have loved this debut book from author Riley Redgate for years. It was the first time I had ever seen a pan character in a book and that really helped me during my coming out process. It also tackles something I love about books, mixed perspective. Seven different narrators that all have different vices and lives and secrets.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2352 KP) rated The Lies of Saints (Nick Barrett, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
In the final of this three books series, Nick Barrett is investigating a 25 year old disappearance. What he learns uncovers deeply held secrets of the rich of Charleston. Another great book where each answer leads to more questions.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2352 KP) rated Blood Matters (Roxanne Prescott, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When adoption guru Sam Brennan is found bludgeoned to death in his house, it starts San Diego Sheriff Department detective Roxanne Prescott on a trail of long hidden secrets. The plot was uneven and really seemed to slow down in second half.
