The Avengers - Season 5
The Avengers - Season 5
1967 | Comedy, Fantasy, Thriller
The Avengers' fifth season opens with a fabricated alien invasion and concludes with a shrink-gun, and while the odd more serious and down-to-earth episode sneaks in, this sort of sums up the scope of the series at this point: a mixture of B-movie sci-fi, extravagant whimsy, and knowing wit. As in the previous year, dapper security operative John Steed is assisted in his investigations by Mrs Emma Peel.

However, not quite up to the standard of the previous year - the show now seems pitched towards the American networks, hence the move to rather garish colour, and it's often much more knockabout as a result. The fact that most of the episodes are written by either Philip Levene or Brian Clemens also results in a certain reliance on formula - the show even resorts to remaking some of the earlier videotaped stories to avoid having to come up with brand new scripts. However, episodes like The Hidden Tiger and Epic still stand up as well as anything in the run of the series.

Hell Fest (2018)
Hell Fest (2018)
2018 | Horror
276. Hell Fest. Low budget horror, on the big screen, I love it! So this one involves a horror theme park, teenagers, and a masked killer, perfection! So, yep it follows a group of teens to this years Hell Fest, and they are targeted by a masked killer, the tough part about it is, going up to the security at a horror theme park, and telling them that a masked man is scaring them. So this killer's M.O. seems to target people who aren't scared of the attractions offered by the park, so he kindly gives them a scare to remember for the rest of their short lives. The main actress who has the pleasure of being stalked, Amy Forsyth, I swear is the doppelganger of, Christina Robinson, Astor of Dexter fame. You be the judge! So yea, a blood bath in an amusement park, during the Halloween season, go see it, its a fun flick. The Candyman, Tony Todd even makes an appearance! And I loved the ending scene so, so much... Who ya gonna call?
In the vein of such mismatched buddy action crime comedies like Midnight Run, 48 Hours, and National Security, Stuber pairs ex-wrestler Dave Bautista (Vic) and stand-up Kumail Nanjiani (Stu). Vic is a Los Angeles detective with a lead on the drug lord he has been investigating for years who murdered his partner. He gets eye surgery in a plot device to pass his firearm test so he is effectually blind. Stu is a sporting goods employee in the friend zone with a beautiful blonde he has known since college who has just broken up with her boyfriend and needs some Stu-love. Stu also works nights as an Uber driver with a checkered history. One night after crashing his Ford Crown VIctoria, Vic uses the Uber app his daughter installed on his phone so he could safely attend his sculpture exhibition. Stu takes the ride and rides along as Vic chases his white whale. Soon, Stu gets a load of testerone from the steroid-addicted Vic and Vic learns to express his emotions from the metrosexual Stu.
