A Window into Another World
For me, the second book in a series is always the best. The author has already introduced the characters and has set the scene for the adventure in the first book. The second book gets into the meat of the story and gives the reader pages of pure action and adventure, which is exactly what I got with this book.
The Subtle Knife is the sequel to 'Northern Lights' and introduces the character of Will Parry who is on a mission to find his father. Along the way, he meets our heroine from the first book, Lyra and together they set off on an adventure to 'fix the world'.

Great to see Donna's backstory (3 more)
The songs merged well with the storyline

This was a great film and a good sequel and prequel to the first film. It rolled along quite nicely and the laughs were good. But I found overall this movie was more reality based than the first one and left me feeling a little reminded by my own mortality, which I was totally not expecting.
The acting was great as per usual and cher totally rocked her song (though I am a fan). I think I prefer the first one though for the feels.

Entertaining
I like the predator movies. This one was not much different than the rest. Some new characters, plenty of intense(gory)action and cool special effents. Interesting idea about the gene splicing. The story was a little out there, but it's a movie about alien hunters, so don't take it too seriously. The alien dog was a weird part and Olivia Munn's character was not explained very well. How was this biologist so adept with weapons/ fighting? The acting was decent and the cinematography was done really well. Of course they left it open for a sequel(duh). Anyway, it was a fun, entertaining movie and I'd recommended it to antoine who's into action movies. Even if you've never seen a Predator film before. Worth a watch!

the second book in Anthony Ryans 'Raven's Shadow' series (after [b:Blood Song Raven's Shadow 1|13569581|Blood Song (Raven's Shadow, #1)|Anthony Ryan|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1363126955s/13569581.jpg|19148922], this is a departure fromt he first in that it takes chapter about to follow different but interconnected characters.
Lord Vaelin Al Sorna is still the principal protaganist of the tale, which - like the previous - is broken down into different subsections, each prefaced by an account from one character in particular (who only really appears to do so).
Again, like the previous, there's probably enough material in here for a couple of books but, unlike that other novel, this focuses more on world-building than on action/adventure. Also leaves a couple of plot-threads hanging wide open for the inevitable sequel!

The third of the Hitch-Hikers Guide books, which starts with Ford Prefect and Arthur Dent still stuck on a prehistoric Earth.
It's not long, however, before they are back in 'our' time, roped into an attempt to save the Universe for destruction by an army of robots made by an alien race. Of course, they fail spectacularly in all their attempts to stop the robots gathering the items they need to release their masters, who were imprisoned inside a 'Slo-Time envelope' following a long and protracted war aeons ago.
To be honest, I found this book to be rather surreal. Despite a few good moments, it was never really laugh-out-loud funny, ending in a blatant attempt for a sequel (which, to be fair, I probably will read at some stage).

Took me a while to get in to, as it follows on (loosely) from the end of Scarrows previous Roman Legion novel, [b:Centurion|1852646|Centurion (Eagle, #8)|Simon Scarrow|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1387711939s/1852646.jpg|1853169]
Once I remembered who was who, and where certain characters had originated from, moved on quite nicely. It probably helps to have read the previous novels before this one (I have), as this refers back to events even further than his usual of one book ago (although it is possible to read this on its own). Also unusually for Scarrow, this has an ending that is undoubtedly leading in to a direct sequel.

Not bad
This movie had some good acting(and some mediocre) but the cinematography was good and the story, overall, hit the mark for creepy. This lady played the part of humiliated high schooler turned psycho pretty well. The story unfolded well. A little slow at first but rolled along at a good pace pretty quickly and smoothly. These kids, however, missed so many red flags with this woman. Naivety at it's finest. The ending was a little weak but at least they didn't go the typical "leave it open for a sequel" way Hollywood seems to love doing so much. Some partial nudity but otherwise nothing to graphic for younger viewers, though probably not for too young of viewers. Anyway, for you adults this one is worth a watch.

It's arguable that Disney take a big risk in making a sequel to one of their most beloved movies (and the one that Walt Disney himself saw as their pinnacle), decades after the original, and with a different actor (Emily Blunt) taking on the role most associated with Julie Andrews.
And, while it's enjoyable enough, this doesn't really hold a candle to that original, despite Emily Blunt giving it her all (and, from what I remember, portraying a somewhat 'softer' Mary Poppins).
The structure is pretty similar to the first film, complete with a last-minute rush to the bank, with the film again focusing on the Banks family: the 2 children from the original now grown up, with worries and a family of their own providing the McGuffin that gets Mary Poppins to return.
And, while it's enjoyable enough, this doesn't really hold a candle to that original, despite Emily Blunt giving it her all (and, from what I remember, portraying a somewhat 'softer' Mary Poppins).

Love in a good form
I loved the book that this movie is based on so, so much. It was one of the best books that I read in 2018 along with it's sequel Leah on the Offbeat. And this was one of the best movies that I saw in 2018. The acting is superb and it's so relevant to today's society and culture with the pop culture references of Harry Potter, Brendon Urie, and even a Hamilton Easter Egg which I enjoyed. It also touches your heart and has a lot of themes to do with family at the very core and learning to let people see you for who you really are

GUYS. GUYS. GUYSSS. Fair warning.
This book. Is dark. Like really dark. It is not disturbing. It is just plain and downright darker than the pits of Hell and it can only get darker by the time the third book comes out.
Strangely, though, I really liked the sequel to The Young Elites – much better than the first one, though now I’m wondering if I would have liked it a lot more if I read the book rather than listening to the audio version. (I’ve always had a fondness for Adelina because helloooo. She is a villain. Villains are up my alley. The librarian spoke the truth.)
