Watched last night as I've seen the orignal years ago and the two sequels as well I thought let's watch the remake I mean the orignal wasn't that good and the remake is OK there are some good deaths in this and a twist I didn't see coming but I knew something had to happen in the last half an hour to keep the movie going overall decent remake with likeable characters u want to survive to the end

Weak plot
Average and Unnecessary
For me this film is just a new way for JK Rowling to cash in on the Harry Potter franchise (similar to the Cursed Child) and it's totally unnecessary. Yes these characters have been touched upon in the HP books and films, but do we really need this and numerous sequels to tell us all about them? There is such a thing as too much, and I think Fantastic Beasts and it's future sequels are a perfect example.

Eddie Redmayne is the only real saving grace, Colin Farrell is alright, but the rest of the cast and characters are either boring or cliched and irritating. And Johnny Depp? There was a time when he would make a film, but now his casting just makes me groan. The effects are patchy at times and the plot as a whole feels a little weak and lacklustre. And the word "nomaj" is possibly the most irritating and cringeworthy word in the entire Harry Potter universe.

Wrong Turn is pretty standard early-2000s cannibal/slasher horror, but manages to be memorable thanks to a decent cast playing tolerable characters.

The cannon fodder teenagers in this are also pretty standard, with the exception of the two leads played by Eliza Dushku and Desmond Harrington. They don't come across as the usual empty headed victims that make stupid decisions, and as a result, it's easy to become invested in their fight for survival.

This first entry in the franchise is a far cry from the more digital looking, torture porn leaning sequels, and boasts some decent practical gore. The designs of the mountain men are suitably unsettling, thanks to Shane Mahan and Stan Winston, and it's easy to see why Thee Finger became something of a horror icon following this film's release.

Wrong Turn won't set your world aflame, but it's a competent and watchable horror that stands well on its own, and is a pretty fun, especially when compared to it's plethora of shitty sequels (the second one isn't too bad to be fair...)

Hellraiser (1987)

Iconic horror; progenitor of many mostly lousy sequels. An unscrupulous adventurer attempts to escape the clutches of sado-masochistic entities by recruiting his adulterous sister-in-law to provide the raw meat for his renewal (it was the 80s, everyone behaved like that under Thatcher).

Not quite the film an unsuspecting viewer might expect: the focus is mainly on the screwed-up Cotton family, especially nasty Uncle Frank; Pinhead, for all that he is on the poster, is in a very minor role (billed as 'Lead Cenobite'). Visually striking and with some interesting ideas, but the low budget is obvious and this is equally obviously a British movie desperately trying to appeal to an American audience. Where the film falls down is in its lack of focus and the fact that its central metaphor or argument is unclear (beyond the fact that the Cottons are a very dysfunctional bunch). Still, there have been worse debuts from writer-directors; it's just that not many of them go on to have nine sequels.

Legacy Sequel entry number ...?
Legacy Sequels.

That's a term for what seems to be becoming more and more the norm in Hollywood of late: sequels of films made decades ago, that don't necessarily *need* said sequel. Some examples:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Jurassic World
Mary Poppins Returns
Ghostbusters: Afterlife

and now 'Top Gun: Maverick', with Tom Cruise returning to one of his signature roles from the mid-80s, as Captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell.

No Kelly McGillis this time around, with her spot (and role in the proceedings) instead being taken by Jennifer Connolly's admirals daughter Penny (name dropped, but never shown in the original).

Yes, there's a definite argument to be made that, shall we call it, 'the mission' here has been done before (try watching the original Star Wars, retroactively titled 'A New Hope' and play spot the similarities), and yes, the plot may be predictable, but when it's all this much fun ...

(and no, you don't need to have seen the original, although that may help)

Another great Pixar movie, but not as great as it's predecessor
This was another great movie as you come to expect from Pixar. Overall it was really good and gave a long awaited sequel to "the Incredibles" but it didn't seem to have all the pizzazz and greatness of the first. Still well worth a watch but as it seems to be with a lot of sequels, it cant keep the momentum going from the first movie

The first of the Airport disaster films. I remember seeing most of them on Sunday afternoons on TV as a young kid. Big budget blockbusters for the time with an all star cast! I think there were three sequels in the end Airport '75, '77 and '79 concorde! Check them out, still pretty good films and few disaster films about planes have been made since to this standard.
Not too mention it inspired two of the funniest spoof films (Airplane) as well!

I finally watched it. It was exactly what I expected- lots of action, betrayal, wicked villains and an intense story with lots of impossible situations. While this wasn't the greatest movie in the world it was highly entertaining. Sly and Ahnold do well together. I may be a little biased having grown up on their action movies, but my opinion here stands. Not sure how this one has sequels but I'll probably check them out, too. Worth a watch!
