This was a great series to pass time. An easy viewing, full of comedic lines and dark humour. Some of which was relatable, however worth watching the series 'Children's Hospital' first, as Medical Police is a spin off from that series. To make sense of the series, as when I saw a Doctor dressed as as a weird clown, I couldn't make sense why. It wasn't very clear and I had to Google it to make sense of it. However I would highly recommend this series to have a laugh. I would consider this series similar to that of 'Scrubs'. The actors were great together and storyline although sometimes lengthy leading to a bore at times, it was also gripping and exciting, as well as hilarious!
David McK (3419 KP) rated The Last Kingdom - Season 5 in TV
Sep 3, 2023 (Updated Sep 3, 2023)
Based on a 13-run series of novels by UK author Bernard Cornwell (now living in America), The Last Kingdom - both books and series - is set in and around the time of Alfred the Great and his descendants, and follows the exploits of Saxon born but Danish raised Uhtred of Bebbanburg.
Each series of the TV show adopted roughly 2 of the novels so - if memory serves - that means that this series covers the events of 'Warriors of the Storm' and 'War of the Wolf'.
For some reason, however - and unlike the earlier Sharpe series (also based on novels by Cornwell) I struggled to get into this one, taking roughly a year and a bit to watch a 10 episode series.
I'm not sure why, but it just didn't help with me.
Mores the pity.

Cumberland (1142 KP) rated The Lost Prince (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten, #1) in Books

Great Spin off
This book is the first in a spin off series. The original series is "The Iron Fey" and the events from it are closely related to this story. The reader was first introduced to the main character Ethan during the iron fey series. He is now much older, and his perspective is a lot different.
I enjoyed seeing the characters I loved from the main series. The book was balanced really well where the new characters were never over shadowed, and I became just as invested in there story. This book should only be read after the original series. If not I do think the reader may have trouble understanding some of the events.

Overall, I quite liked the series as a whole, but I hated Quentin as the protagonist. He never really develops (certainly not in comparison with other characters) and is constantly overshadowed by other interesting characters in the series.
Trish (4 KP) rated The Pagan Stone (Sign of Seven, #3) in Books

Loved the series but this book felt rushed. I think it needed to be spread out into a series of four books. Loved the characters and enjoyed reading the book just wish the ending had been more involved.

Kept me reeled in from the beginning and watched the whole series over a couple of days. Yes this is a spoiler but did not see the twist coming with the Journalist. Bring on the second series.
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Jaz Parks, #1) in Books

I think that for the first in the series it was entertaining and intriguing. I enjoyed it though I'm unsure whether it should be paranormal romance or urban fantasy. Either way I'll be reading more of this series.

DNF.
I don't know what it is with this series but I'm not a fan. I loved her Pyte/Sentinel series but this one isn't gelling with me at all. Not going to bother with the third one.
