Amazing series!!

Since series 1 I was hooked from the way that franky developed as a character to the way that bee did and actually formed strong relationships with the people around her. You do have moments through the series where you asked why things happen? Why have they killed off specific people. Recently happening in this latest series and wanting to shake some of the characters in it to wake them up. Allie Novak especially what is she doing!! Think there should be her seeing a ghost in the storyline so that she can be bought out of Marie's shadow.... spoilers are in the above do apologise but it's a must see!!

Reboot movie based on rebooted series!
Bog-standard movie based on a video-game itself (largely) taking inspiration from a series of movies - Indiana Jane, anyone? - with the more recent entries in that game series seeming to take inspiration from the 'Uncharted' series of games (which is ironic, as they took inspiration from the earlier Tomb Raider games!)
In this one, Alicia Vikander takes over the role of a - very different than previous - Lara Croft, a younger version of the character who has not yet become the eponymous Tomb Raider we are all familiar with (and on which Angelina Jolie based her portrayal). If anyone has played the 2013(ish) Tomb Raider game, there's really no surprises here, with elements of the plot - and, indeed, some of the more memorable scenes - almost lifted wholesale from that game.

Not the best start
As anyone who has read any of my other reviews will know, I'm a huge Stephen King fan. However I spent a large amount of time avoiding the Dark Tower series because I didn't think it would be any good. In 2015 I finally caved and gave it a go, and it became my all time favourite book series. 5 years later, I feel the time is right to read it again.
King himself has said he isn't entirely pleased with The Gunslinger, the first novel in the series, and I'd be inclined to agree with him. As introductions go, our intro to Roland isn't bad but it doesn't feel anywhere near as engaging and intriguing as the later books in the series. It feels a little convoluted and confusing at times, like we're joining a story not quite at the very start. Admittedly some things are explained later on, but it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people have given up on this series purely because of this first novel.
For me I can appreciate that this is a good novel and a decent introduction to Roland and the world he lives in, but I will admit it could be better. Reading it again does highlight some of the nods and nuances to later happenings in the series that you didn't quite pick up the first time around. But I will say that if youre planning on reading this series, please don't judge it off this instalment alone.
