A new series from a favorite author left me a little cold. I didn't find it nearly as funny as his old books, and the mystery was weak. What's funny about this is the series centers around the owner of a comedy movie theater. Owner Elliot Freed investigates when a man is poisoned by his pop corn during the nightly double feature.

Lee and Joe are starting off their married life with a house full of guests. But that's nothing compared to a string of burglaries and the man showing up claiming to be Joe's long dead father. I missed many of the series regulars, and the plot wandered around a big before it really took off. Fans of the series will enjoy it.

Everyone is surprised when Uncle Gus shows up to the Beeseman/Herman family reunion. No one has heard from him since he left Lake Eden 30 years ago. But the next morning, Hannah finds him murdered. Which relative wasn't all that happy to see him? This is a strong entry in the series that will absolutely please the series' fans.

Evan is assigned to the murder of a professor through an open window. Meanwhile an Arab family moves into Llanfair, and they have problems of their own. The final book in the series features great twists and the usual charming characters.

While I love the author's two current series, I keep hoping she will find time to revisit Evan and company.

I absolutely loved getting to hear Della's story. She was one of my favorite characters in the original series, so it was fun getting to see what she goes theough. I really liked this story. Not only was the storyline pretty fresh, I was also very happy with the introduction of the newer characters. Vampire back stories are always pretty fun as well. If you have read the Shadow Falls series, I definitely recommend picking this one up as well.

As the last novella in the "Lost Journals" set, "My Master" definitely takes the cake. The journals as a whole really add extra depth to the mystery behind Rebecca's disappearance, and really makes you wonder, 'Why did she leave? Is she okay?' It also sets up nicely for the second book in the "Inside Out" series, "Being Me", if you read it in the correct reading order. While the journals are not needed to understand the series, it definitely helps answer some questions.

Barant nearly lost me in the beginning, because this volume is so very different from earlier ones in the series. It got better, though, and as it did I didn't want to put the book down. However, I have to say that the cliffhanger ending ticked me off. The next volume will have to be really, incredibly good to make up for the cheap trick.

Wait a minute - according to Barant's blog, this is almost certainly the last book in the series. GAH!

OHG this series... dark, sick and twisted and yet so good. This has been by far the hardest in the series to read for me so far.. without sharing spoilers, my heart broke over and over again until I simply couldn't take any more (and then grabbed the next book of course!?). You know those books where your heart races, your blood boils and you find yourself shaking uncontrollably as you have a panic attack while reading....well, this is THAT book!?

The start of an amazing series
In a world where magic and power go hand in hand, what happens when the balance is shifted? The detail of the world, it's magic and the rules that govern the citizens is fantastic and totally engrossing. So glad that there are now several series all tying in to this one so that you can keep on reading and losing yourself in an alternative world.

Forced Doctor Connection
Surprisingly Amazing
I was pleasantly surprised finding that I actually really enjoyed this series. As someone who enjoyed the previous spin offs from Doctor Who I found that I actually almost liked this better than even Torchwood. It was clear to mehowever that theconnection to Doctor Who seemed a little forced and almost unnecessary as the series could easily have stood on it's own as a really good TV show.
