Manages to work both as a 60s-set genre movie and more topical comment on issues of tolerance and diversity (just for a change). Quite charming and beautiful on the whole, though the strength of the sex and violence might be an issue for some people. The downtrodden-minorities-stick-it-to-The-Man subtext is a bit on the nose, perhaps, and I'm not sure the third act musical number really works, but on the whole this is a brilliant movie.

More of the same mixture of blandly aspirational low-octane soap opera and profoundly unerotic softcore porno; difficult to say which is more boring. Scores somewhat over the second one by actually having a sort of thriller subplot, which means there are moments which approach being dramatic. Supposedly edgy and transgressive saga concludes with the most conventional image of domestic happiness imaginable; says it all really. One quite funny line: too involved to repeat here, alas.

This is a very interesting story, and the sex scenes were captivating while not being overly gratuitous or outlandish. The characters are also well-written, which is not something that is usually taken into account in these types of writings. Generally speaking, characters within this genre are often flat, but these actually have back-stories and development over the course of the novel.
My only detraction is with the editing. There were several occasions where it was a little difficult to read/understand because words seemed to be out of order, incorrectly used, etc. Because the story is still accessible and readable, it's not a huge issue, which is why it's only worth half a star to my review.
4.5 stars

The writing was better than I expected. Most romance books that I have read are poorly written and filled with smut. I found that this book was well written and I didn't feel like the sex was too over the top.
The characters were lovable and I found myself laughing many times. I loved all of the characters and felt like the author knew what she was talking about.
All in all, this was a very good book. I will definitely look into Cindy Gerard's books in the future.

Add to this Frank Whaley as Guy, the newbie assistant to Buddy, is put through hell hoping to get a screenplay produced. Add to this Dawn, producer, Guys new girlfriend, producer and ex Buddy squeeze and you get a recipe of disaster.
It’s just funny but also appalling tale of Hollywood film production.
