Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Rape: A Love Story in Books

First off, I hate the title. This was not a book that I could read out in public without getting some very concerned looks. I picked up this book because a book blog that I follow had a post about the book and it made me curious. Other than the title, I liked this book. I was a volunteer for an anti sexual assault group for 2 years and this hits the nail on the head (how a sexual assault survivor is treated). This book is extremely dark. I had to put it away every few minutes and regroup.
This book shows how one rape can send ripples and waves through a community. When reading this book the reader gets to see what impact a rape has an individual and society. There were a lot of rape myths that were present and it just made me want to scream at the media. I think the most depressing thing about this book is that the experience of the mother and daughter are true for so many victims of sexual assault.
Ultimately, I found this book interesting and fascinating. I'm going to have to have to reread it again because I feel like I could get more out of this novel on a second read.

I really enjoyed this book in the end. It was not easy to read, or a happy story, however it was really well done and I applaud ghetto author for tackling such difficult topics.

cn for anyone who does pick this up, multiple discussions of death (adult and child), sexual assault and rape, and suicide. As I said, not always an easy read.

A dark, intense, and thoughtful movie about sexual assault and society's failure to believe women and to allow "boys to be boys" well into adulthood and not have them take responsibility for their actions. It has a powerful message but I fear the ones who need to hear it will not watch this movie. In a perfect world, this movie would be the catalyst to a great social and moral change in the world.

Okay, so this is one of those guilty pleasure books that will keep you entertained and a little embarrassed that you are entertained.
Things I liked about the book: The psychology behind the main characters, the use of conditioning, and how fast of a read it was.
Things I didn't like about the book: Sexual Assault, Stockholm Syndrome, and the stupidity of the characters.
The book has a different kind of plot and it is very dark compared to other novels that I have read. The main character is kidnapped, held hostage, forced into sexual experiences. This book frustrated me in the fact that BDSM does NOT equal abuse, or rape. Safe, Sane, and Consensual are the three things that don't really make an appearance.
