"It has all the elements you’d expect from a Sherlock Holmes story—you’re presented with a number of things that would help you solve the question, but you can’t or you don’t. When you get to the end and Sherlock explains everything, you say, ‘Aw, I should have noticed that!’ All the facts are there. It’s hard to piece things together without the background and the inquisitive mind Holmes has."

Can literally think of nothing bad about this series. Benedict Cumberbatch is phenomenal in his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, almost as if he was born to play the part. (0 more)

Perhaps the most famous of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes mysteries, in which the super-sleuth investigates the supposed Baskerville family curse of the hell-hound on the moors.

"Anything by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring Sherlock Holmes. Many people have enjoyed the adventures of Holmes and Watson in films and on the small screen. My guess would be that far fewer have actually read the stories from which they’re taken. Sherlock and Dr. John aren’t cozy, tweedy, oddball caricatures. They’re tough guys—resolute, brilliant and action-oriented. And if you’ve got lots of reading time on your hands, we’re talking LOTS of stories."
