Tragic tells the beginning of the story of Rook & Ronin...and let me tell you... not only is it sexy, but its AMAZING!!! Rook gets signed as the model for the Tragic campaign, which is irony in its greatest form because he life is just that...TRAGIC.

Rook bounced around from foster home to foster home her whole life, until she met Jon... At the time Jon was her knight in shining armor, but quickly he became possessive and eventually Rook feared for her life. She smartened up and bought a one way bus ticket to Dallas, modeling, and eventually Ronin's bed.

This story is beyond great! JA Huss writes this story in such a way that you can't help but cheer Rook on. There were several times during this book I found myself talking to the book trying to give Rook advice on how to drop Ronin like a hot potato.

Rook is a great character. She is TRAGIC, but yet there is hope, and I think Ronin is the silver lining to her new modeling gig. Ronin wants nothing but to help Rook navigate the modeling world and life in general, but this isn't the first time Ronin has been tangled up with a TRAGIC model, and the people around him point this out to him every chance he gets. Ronin can tell that Rook is different, and special. Ronin ultimately believes people are good and he is too.

This book is great from start to finish, and I can't help but recommend this book to everyone I know! I am sad to see that this is only going to be a trilogy of books. I was hoping to be able to have much more time with this characters. This is a must read!!

Predictable
A.I. Chucky reborn in a tech savvy world.
As Chucky embarks into a new century, the filmmakers realize that it was time to make Chucky into artificial intelligence. In previous films, there was always a sense of witchcraft going on where it made Chucky come to life. This makes more sense of making Chucky as a Amazon Alexa type of technology. A Buddi of sorts.

They cleverly weave that into the depth of where Chucky's madness is taking over him. In how it started was a little far fetched. A guy decided to break the rules at his job because of poor working conditions and a over the top douche of a boss. It was mishandled how it happened.

I think that Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, and Brian Tyree Howard are amazing in this movie. They really sell the world that was created for them, especially Bateman who is tortured by Chucky's antics.

As for the doll design, I think it looked really good. There are moments where rendering in the CGI was needed, but overall, it looked amazing in some scenes. I specifically remember the moment where Bateman is walking Chucky into his room and the way his facial expressions are used makes him weirdly human, and that increases the creepy factor within Chucky.

As for the negatives, it follows the typical ground plan of every slasher, especially Child's Play movies. Mom's boyfriend is a douche. Mom doesn't believe her son. Friends believe Andy. Nice cop who lives with mother may be the knight in shining armor. We can see where this is going, and it also takes a while for Chucky to actually kill something. It panders too much and I think they could've had more potential with the horror.

My Unpopular Opinion
Set in prehistoric times, a young man has to survive on his own after getting injured during a hunt. In the process of trying to stay alive, he ends up befriending a lone wolf. I was hoping to like this movie a lot more, but it seemed to drag in too many spots for me.

Acting: 10

Beginning: 10

Characters: 3
Keda (Kodi Smit-McPhee) wasn’t really cutting it for me as far as characters go. When you’re talking about one person to carry a movie, I was hoping for someone with a bit more charisma. The wolf was a cute addition, but the combo wasn’t quite enough to make me care more about the story.

Cinematography/Visuals: 8

Conflict: 4
There wasn’t a whole lot of action going on, at least not enough to keep me entertained. Yes, it’s a story around survival and that concept itself should be riveting enough, but, sadly, it wasn’t. There was too much of nothing happening for too long of stretches. I kept waiting for things to develop and, by the time I started to feel fireworks, it ended being a small fizzle.

Entertainment Value: 8

Memorability: 3

Pace: 3
Pretty slow as far as survival movies go. I kept waiting for it to pick up and, while it had a few shining moments here and there, it was pretty tame for the most part. Y’all, I tried, I really did. Just wasn’t working for me.

Plot: 6

Resolution: 8

Overall: 63
Don’t take my opinion as God when it comes to Alpha. There are plenty out there that adore this movie. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of them. It’s way too slow and uninteresting for me to recommend.
