"Because I read it on my days off when I was shooting The Zookeeper’s Wife and I want to read it again. Because it is deeply and profoundly human, and managed to devastate and uplift me at the same time."

Great cast (1 more)
Great feel for the era
One of the better Westerns
One of the better Westerns since Unforgiven. It has a great near all star cast. It's a little long and slow in places. Once the shooting starts though it soon hots up.

"Director of photography Laurie Rose and I watched this before we made A Field in England. We were afraid of shooting outside in changing weather conditions and light. Marketa Lazarová shows that cutting between overcast/bright sunlight/no snow/suddenly snow . . . can work just fine."

"Columbine convinced me to tell a hard story. I wanted to end the sixth season of Grey’s Anatomy with a hospital shooting, but I was worried about the portrayal of violence and how to convey the deeper message to the audience. Then I came across this book by Dave Cullen. Reading it broke my heart open. It’s not about a shooting as much as it’s about what happens to people who survive this kind of tragedy. It’s written with a raw honesty that helped me glimpse the emotional toll this kind of event can have. Anyone concerned about gun violence in schools should consider it required reading."

"It’s very dark but almost funny at some moments. It’s about someone who is wrongly accused of a school shooting and sort of ends up being put away for it and being on Death Row. At moments it’s really funny, and at moments it’s really quite hard to read.”

"All of Wes’s stuff is great, but I really love this one because it was the first time Wes found Wes 2.0. It was like, oh, you’ve unlocked another way of shooting for yourself, which you now see manifested in films like Moonrise Kingdom. His style is now wider than ever."

Excellent actors. Again, Rhett Rheese has written a winner. Though this isn't like your average zombie movie, I think it really revived the genre. It stands out from the running, shooting and gore that is the Hallmark for most zombie movies and is a great movie to watch with friends.
