"What a beautiful film. Olmi was a documentary filmmaker who then switched to features. He explores young love in very simple, but deeply felt, terms. Even more exciting is the short film included on the disc, La cotta. This is like Rushmore in miniature. A young, imaginative kid in love. So fun and sad."

"The Criterion Collection contains some of the greatest documentaries, and these are my favorites. These discs give you a good dose of Werner Herzog (in front of the camera), Les Blank, and Errol Morris. You also get the short Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe, which makes me laugh me every time I watch it."

"This is a tiny documentary that for me, is so much more than a movie. In short, it’s about an autistic boy who’s Texan parents take him on horseback to inner Mongolia in search of a Shamanic healing. It’s not the easiest film to watch, but in my opinion, a miracle happens on screen."

"I'm engaged to this brilliant author, so this would be the book I'd probably strap across my heart. It might keep my heart intact somehow, although, ironically, it's a heartbreaking bakers dozen of linked short stories about a young seeker on the sprawl, reeling from a recent break up and the loss of his brother."

Whoever translated this from the French is an excellent writer themselves. The language is nothing short of elegant, and reminiscent of Ondaatje. The story is simple but the characters are so vivid and special, they draw you in. Simply a lovely read from start to finish (and the twist in the end isn't bad, either).

Hello, my name is Davida and I'm a Rachel Joyce addict. That's why after reading "Perfect" I couldn't wait for her next novel and had to buy this short story. Once again, she doesn't disappoint! You can read my review of this here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/07/21/the-scent-of-letting-go/

4.5/5 stars! There's nothing more satisfying than a really well written short story, and you'll find lots of these in this collection, which actually has two that are more novella length. Take a look at my #bookreview of this on my blog now. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2020/02/14/ironic-wit-of-william/

True crime documentaries are my jam. But, this one fell really short. There were only four episodes, and they didn't really go into much depth on the evidence or techniques for a show called 'Exhibit A'. The cases were interesting, but the amount of time spent on them was frustrating.

Just another Netflix bummer.
