"Such a tremendous collection. It’s fascinating to see how Eric Rohmer translates his own short stories into these films. His work with Nestor Almendros is so beautiful and simple, and the films are such profound and witty examinations of self-deception. Because I’ve been greedy in choosing these, I haven’t allowed myself to choose The Adventures of Antoine Doinel."

"Silas Marner was probably on the 1945 high school curriculum because it was short and not about sex. I hated it — didn’t have a clue what it wasabout. Eliot (real name Mary Ann Evans) writes with a dry, adult humor and depth of experience of pain I could only appreciate when I finally finished growing up."

"This wonderful short novel is a reminder of how jaded we’ve become as readers. I remember the exact moment (spoiler alert for 60-yr-old book) when I realized that this story about warring primitive tribes is set inside a lost generation ship. I was astounded by its (then) originality, and unassuming storytelling. And still am."

The curmudgeonly A.J Fikry is an unlikely character to own the only bookstore on a New England island, but all that begins to change when someone leaves a 25-month-old baby girl in his store. Read my review of this lovely novel here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/03/20/greater-than-the-sum-of-its-short-stories/

A short story about Will's undercover adventure that occurs between books 6 and 7 of the series. The first chapter was jam-packed full of action. It was a quick read and while each discovery surprised me, I felt it was lacking something - but I'm used to the full-length stories, so maybe that's just my problem.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
1971 | Fantasy, Musical
A staple Christmas movie and the best adaptation there is, the remake was unnecessary and was very messy.
It's a wonderfully story and contains some great musical numbers and Gene Wilder was nothing short of amazing bringing the titular character to life.
Not sure if it will ever be bettered, I dont think they should try..classic!

For a short story/novella, this had everything that's included in Jenn Bennett's full length novels in this series; a mystery, some romance, and Jupe being Jupe :D

This was the boat trip from hell. Everything that could go wrong, did. Storms, demons, Jupe...

A great instalment in a series that I love. Straight onto book 3!
