I expected to be wooed by this book as the series was really great and I had heard great things about the book too. Until the final two chapters I was quite underwhelmed, the book is similar to several short stories and these were not in order. I found this a little frustrating.
Geralt seemed to lack a personal connection and I was finding it hard to enjoy this book. Fortunately, the last two chapters are brilliant, I devoured them very quickly and cant wait to read the next one. I really hope the following installments have a longer story but I don't know if that will be the case. Either way I will probably finish the full series as I niw feel invested in the characters.

The version I 'read' was the Audible version, narrated by several of the stars of the films themselves, so I obviously can't comment on the (supposedly magnificent) illustrations: indeed, I didn't even know until just now that this was as illustrated book!
The stories within include:
The Wizard and the Hopping Pot
The Fountain of Fair Fortune
The Warlock's Hairy Heart
Babbity Rabbity and her Cackling Stump
The Tale of the Three Brothers
and are, like their muggle fairy tale counterparts, designed to pass on moral lessons to the young reader.

Geralt de Rivia is a witcher. A cunning sorcerer. A merciless assassin.
And a cold-blooded killer.
His sole purpose: to destroy the monsters that plague the world.
But not everything monstrous-looking is evil and not everything fair is good
. . . and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.
I’m so glad I decided to start these books! This is a selection of short stories to open up the wither world and Geralt. I loved them all and it made so much more sense matching these shorts to the Tv series. Looking forward to getting stuck into the next book. It also helps I now have Henry Cavil stuck in my head for Geralt!
