LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated Honey Boy (2019) in Movies

I'm going to keep this one short because I feel it's important to just go and experience Honey Boy without too much prior knowledge.
Written by Shia LaBeouf and based on parts of his childhood and his relationship with his father, Honey Boy is brimming with raw emotion. It flicks from heartwarming to traumatic with a finger snap, and captures the turbulence of this haphazard upbringing in a hugely effective manner.
LaBeouf also stars, and takes on the role of his father, so this movie is also a sort of therapy, splayed out right in front of us. It feels personal.
The rest of the cast are fantastic - Noah Jupe, Lucas Hedges, and FKA Twigs in particular - Everyone just knocks it out the park.
Honey Boy also boasts a multitude of beautiful shots. Alma Har'el has done a wonderful job of bringing this story to fruition.
Shia LaBeouf has really come into his own in recent years, and between this and The Peanut Butter Falcon, he is.further proving why he is one the best acting talents around at the moment. Wonderful stuff!

Beach Reads to Enjoy Anywhere
Surfs up with this collection of eight mystery short stories set on the beach. Weβve got everything from a constantly disappearing family heirloom at a beach side wedding reception to a dead body on a girlsβ weekend, a death at a frog leg cooking competition, a ring half buried in the sand, and an accident plagued trip to Cabo San Lucas.
Each story in this collection averaged 40 minutes for me to read, so there is plenty of content in the book. While some of the authors have written about their series sleuths, all of the stories can be read on their own, which was good because I was only familiar with one set of characters before I started the collection. All the stories feature strong characters and fun mysteries in addition to the variety of beach settings. Whether you take this book along to read at the beach or read it at home while dreaming of being at the beach, youβll enjoy it.

Super insane when you think about how an actual person was capable of making something this impeccable. Earth-shattering romance with very little frills, works as well as it does in part because Jonze - seasoned craftsman that he is - refuses to cloud the central dynamic(s) with overbearing "hey it's the future everybody look" winking nor random tech overanalyzing which usually bog down these types of films and take away from what works. It's easy to forget that acting can be this perfect - from the seismic Phoenix lead performance to Johansson's heart-wrenching and constantly evolving vocal presence. And it's nice to see a technology-oriented future-set film that doesn't dive into annoying 'The State of Things' preachiness or look like a grodey πππ’π₯π¦ ππΆπ―π―π¦π³ rustbucket bootleg. In short, it never lets its story take a backseat to obnoxious gimmicks, ever - so everything is allowed to breathe. Wish it didn't spoil the final frame of the goddamned movie on the back of the DVD case, but otherwise holy fucking shit the waterworks were turned UP on this one.

**I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review**
So this one follows Erin, the old sister of the two, and how she follows her sister, Tess, across the country worrying her sister may have gone a little mad, wanting to marry a man she's known for such a short time.
Erin is fiery and doesn't mess around with words. She tells people what she thinks and wants and has never met anyone who stands up to her. Until she meets Seth. He knocks her down a few pegs with his flirty attitude and she finds herself wanting him, almost as much as he seems to want her, but she holds back.
I have to say I liked Seth, he's sort of gentle in his seduction of her. He doesn't push her into anything but he wants answers as to why she keeps turning him down when he realises there's a definite reason behind it.
It was a sweet story of overcoming fears and finding yourself again after suffering at the hands of someone else.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Love and Decay, Episode One (Love and Decay, #1) in Books

For such a short book, this was really, really, good. It had humour, a bit of romance and zombies.
I loved Reagan and Haley's attitude considering it's the end of the world and they are two of the few remaining humans in a world overrunning with zombies. They're always joking and having a laugh with each other.
As for the brothers. I think I loved Hendrix from the moment he was tending to Reagan's wounds and trying not to laugh at her reaction to him seeing her hairy legs (still makes me laugh just thinking about it :P). The other's we haven't really gotten to know yet but they all seem like nice guys.
There are a few wording errors but they're easy to overlook because the story is so gripping.
After being half way through I had to go and hunt out the other 11 episodes on Amazon and saw that the omnibus/boxset of books 1-6 was free as well so I quickly downloaded it and am now eagerly awaiting a time when I can find out what happens next!

The premise of the story is something I've not seen before. You are a little creature trying to return the light (and other things) to the world that it is situated in. Helping other beings along the way and spreading love/light. I played on my xbox one.
It is a puzzle game that really gets you thinking and is very clever. I spent quite some hours on this game trying to figure out the puzzles. There are several "boss battles" although these are not in the usual sense. I recommend giving it a go to find out.
The fantasy setting is stunning, the special effects, the colours, everything is just dialed up and it looked so wonderful on my HD tv.
The game is almost too sure although I have spent 20 hours completing it, I've now gone back to finish each section of the map to 100%.
If you like puzzle games I would highly recommend even for the less frequent gamer (like myself).
