Night Reader Reviews (683 KP) rated Skeleton Crew in Books

Not a bad collection of Stephen King's short stories. I noticed a common theme in many of the stories being "Do you love?" and I can not help but think that it was intentional. I am not much of a short story person but I did like many of these. I just wish that Stephen King had explanations for all of the stories in the back instead of a select few.

Another collection of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes short stories, with this particular collection including the first mention of the 2 M'S: Sherlock's even-smarter (but lazy) brother Mycroft, and his arch-nemesis Moriarty.
This collection also includes (and ends with) the famous Reichenbach Falls short story, written when Conan Doyle was getting tired of the character, which was to leave so many readers desolate at the time of publication!

this is the second book ive read from this author and it was just as good. this is a well written book with a fab story line. this book is a fast paced romance story. the characters are fab and work really well through out the story. the only bad point is that it is so short, would have loved it to be longer.

ClareR (6062 KP) rated Normal Rules Don’t Apply in Books

I do like short stories, and this collection, Normal Rules Don’t Apply by Kate Atkinson is exceptionally good.
It’s a collection of interconnected, quirky stories, set within different genres. Every story surprised me with how much I enjoyed it, it’s oddness, offbeat approach and sheer surrealism! I mean, I LOVE an odd story, and this collection most certainly delivered! I’m really glad I picked this book up!
Stand out story: The Void (it’s apocalyptic!).

A pretty decent horror film based on the short story by Clive Barker, which is a bit Stephen King like. It's very bloody and gruesome but the cgi effects make it less shocking. Overall a very simple idea for a film well executed but the cgi effects are over done and the story is a bit too straight forward most of the time.
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Watching Elijah Fall (Short North #1) in Books

I like to read a short story--or three--whenever I'm struggling to get into my longer ones, which is my current problem, as I feel they help.
This was a sweet story, but I also felt like it didn't really have enough relationship progression in it. I would have loved to see more of them together. Other than that, I liked it.
