David McK (3721 KP) rated Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) in Movies
Jul 31, 2021
OK, I now have a new bar set for complete over the top ridiculousness in this spin off from the Fast and Furious movies (as an aside, I remember when they actually used to be about illegal street racing).
Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham (Hobbs and Shaw respectively) reprise their roles from the later F&F films, here reluctantly teaming up in a plot that also involves Idris Elba's cyborg soldier (who even goes so far as to call himself a Black Superman at one point) and Shaw's sister Hattie, who has been framed for stealing a deadly virus.
Over the top? Absolutely.
(but the cast all seem to be having great fun)

The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated Brother and Sister in Books
Oct 7, 2020
When Nathalie is interviewed about how being adopted effected her life, although initially she denies that it made any difference to her, she suddenly discovers a need to find her birth parents, and insists that her brother David (also adopted) do the same. This takes them down a road that neither of them were ever prepared to travel, and yet, are both, inexplicably drawn towards.
With "Brother and Sister" Joanna Trollope gives us a parallel study in human nature, but she does so with such simple artistry that you'll find yourself compelled to read this straight through. Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Never Too Far (Rosemary Beach, #2; Too Far, #2) in Books
Sep 5, 2019
Nothing ever runs smoothly, does it? And these twos relationship is no exception. Once again it's a roller coaster of emotion and feeling as Rush is once more pulled between his loyalty to his sister and his love for Blaire.
This series is emotional and you get so engrossed in Blaire and Rush's story that you feel like you're in the story with them, seeing it all happen right in front of you.
I need to find out what happens in the end with these two but I've noticed that Woods' story is book three in the Rosemary Beach series, so should I read his story next or go straight into Forever Too Far?? HELP?!?!
