This book is mind-bending, constantly surprising and just plain old phenomenal, really š¤·š¼āāļø Just when I thought that I knew what was going on, something happened to completely throw me off.
Itās also a book with just enough oddness to keep me reading. Usually, a book about missing children would be a big ānoā from me, but I have to admit to being drawn in by the talking, God fearing cat. I mean, how can that not appeal to the reader?
Ted is the main character though. He lives in a rundown house on Needless Street with his talking cat, Olivia, and his daughter Lauren, who visits at the weekends. Heās a reclusive man, who boards up his windows, has spy holes to look into the garden and uses a chest freezer to keep his cat in when heās out. He doesnāt do himself any favours - heās odd.
And so Dee decides that he is the man responsible for the disappearance of her sister. The Police have already discounted him, but she is sure that he fits the profile of a child abductor. She finds a house for sale on Needless Street, moves in and bides her time.
This is hands down, one of the strangest, delightfully off-kilter, most uncomfortable books Iāve read in recent times. I thought I had the ending all sorted out, but there are a fair few twists and turns that will wrong-foot you throughout this frankly brilliant book.
If you enjoy an eccentric, strange, slightly horrifying book, youāll undoubtedly enjoy this. I loved it.

Only just when things couldnāt be going better for them, Megan and CJ disappear in a swirl of blue smoke and land in Nalrin. After suddenly finding herself standing before a woman claiming to be her motherās sister, Megan finds out she isnāt human at all and that her parents fled Nalrin to save themselves. If that isnāt enough to make her head spin, now Megan must try to stop them from destroying Nalrin, and taking the one thing she isnāt willing to lose.
I really donāt know what kept me reading but for some reason I kept going till the end. It wasnāt all bad I just got a little bored halfway through and as Iād already come so far I pushed through. It was the kind of book where itās magic so we will throw everything in including the kitchen sink.

BLACK HEARTED is the second book in the Black Knights Inc: Reloaded series. I haven't read the first book in this series but I don't feel as though it impacted me greatly, although I do believe it would have been better if I had read it.
Sam thinks of Hannah as the thirteen-year-old little sister to his ex-girlfriend, not realising that she is now twenty-nine, with thoughts and dreams of her own. It doesn't help that most of those dreams revolve around Sam, the childhood crush she never grew out of. Hannah walks away at one time (presumably after the first book finishes) but some time down the line, she needs Sam's help. Hannah has been framed and is classed as a traitor. She goes to the one person she knows will help her.
I found this story to be both fast-paced and also slow-burn, as the multitude of events and miscommunications built up. Told from the third person, you hear from Sam and Hannah, but I loved the snippets from Eliza and Fisher. And the poetry quotes were exceedingly well chosen.
A story filled with terrorism, hacking, love, and miscommunication. If these things float your boat, then I can definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book it was dark, twisty and violent. A look into the dark world of an assassin life one that doesnāt like doing what he does. Knowing he has only one way out. I wasnāt expecting to like it at all it was a mystery book I had in a subscription box. It was really well translated too.

Oh it started so well and I was enjoying it but I just got so bored. I really wanted to enjoy this book but I couldnāt find anything to keep me hooked in! The characters were wushu washy and the story lost it appeal. Such a shame!

THE CURSED KING is the fourth, and final, book in the Inferno Rising series. It is Angelika's turn now, the last sister unmated. Only, it turns out, she actually wanted to mate with someone - Airk - and he turned her down. Now, Pytheios wants her, so what will Airk do?
Angelika has always viewed herself as the weakest link as she didn't inherit any of her mother's powers. Airk is unable to shift due to his captivity for five hundred years. Angelika has a way of calming his dragon down and also exciting him, so Airk vows to stay away. Of course, we all know how that works out!
This was an epic conclusion to a great story. I was half expecting what happened, as I didn't think it likely our author would leave Angelika hanging. It is fast-paced and intricate, with the other mated pairs playing their parts. You do see less of Pytheios this time, together with his witch, and his phoenix. The witch I eventually felt sorry for; the phoenix, not so much!
I would love to return to these dragon clans in the future but, rest assured, no matter what Ms Owens writes, I'll be right there reading it. Absolutely recommended.

Angelika has a way of calming his dragon down and also exciting him, so Airk vows to stay away. Of course, we all know how that works out!

SCORNED is the third book in The Emrys Chronicles and this time we travel with Catrin and Meuric through time. Catrin has been pining over Einion and Meuric is determined no one will hurt his sister again. However, when these two find out just when they are, they realise that they need to work together if they are ever to find their way back home.
This continues the story nicely, giving Meuric and Catlin their own space and time to figure things out on their own, without well-meaning but sure-to-be-interfering, families. I thought the history/current aspect of the story was brilliant, giving extra depth to those we have already met in the previous stories.
I will admit to Cat growing on me. She annoyed me in Einion's book and it started off the same way, but she matured and had realisations in this book that helped me warm to her. Meuric was always a star, and my heart broke for the sorrow he has had to live with. I hope both Cat and Meuric have a happy future, but am content with their Happy For Now ending.
This has been a great series that I have loved reading and have no hesitation in recommending either this book or the series as a whole.

This continues the story nicely, giving Meuric and Catlin their own space and time to figure things out on their own, without well-meaning but sure-to-be-interfering, families. I thought the history/current aspect of the story was brilliant, giving extra depth to those we have already met in the previous stories.
I will admit to Cat growing on me. She annoyed me in Einion's book and it started off the same way, but she matured and had realisations in this book that helped me warm to her. Meuric was always a star, and my heart broke for the sorrow he has had to live with. I hope both Cat and Meuric have a happy future, but am content with their Happy For Now ending.
This has been a great series that I have loved reading and have no hesitation in recommending either this book or the series as a whole.
