Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2355 KP) rated Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew'd (Flavia de Luce, #8) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
As much as I enjoyed Flavia’s adventure in Canada, it was good to be back in familiar surroundings with familiar characters. The usual crew are up to their usual antics, which was fun. I especially enjoy Flavia’s interactions with her cousin since she doesn’t see the parallels between that and her old sisters. The mystery was good and a focus of much of the book, although I did figure a couple pieces of it out early. Still, the ending surprised me.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2355 KP) rated And Then There Were Nuns (League of Literary Ladies #4) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
I was thrilled to return to South Bass Island and Bea and her friends. They are a delightful group, and I enjoyed spending time with them as always. While borrowing nicely from the setup of the Christie classic, this mystery takes off in some fun new directions. One aspect of the setup is never fully explained, although I can guess what happened as why. That’s a small quibble and my only complaint with this wonderful book.
NOTE: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2355 KP) rated Out of Circulation (Cat in the Stacks, #4) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
As a fan of the Southern Ladies series, I was quite anxious to read the book that introduced the Ducote sisters. They are as much fun here as they are in their own series. We get to see a different side of a couple of series regulars as well, which I really enjoyed. The plot was strong and kept me going until the surprising yet logical conclusion.

The sister find out their father is ill. It might be their last time for them to get together. There is a secret about one of the sisters that left. Their mother and their father are the ones that know what happen. Tilly finds out why she at odds with her father. They all have to deal with what happen at the river. It also heal some relationships in the family when they go to the River. I think this would be a good book for those that enjoy a little mystery though it does not have many but a few. One is the mystery is about their little sister. A another other with Tilly.
