"If I had to choose my number 1 favorite book of all time, it would be this. (And as this is widely considered one of the great American novels, I’m clearly not the only person who’s been hugely affected by it.) White Noise uses the story of a college professor and his family in small Midwestern town to explore American paranoia, consumerism, and novelty academic intellectualism. I love this book for its ability to to be dark, beautiful, smart, and hysterically funny, all at the same time."

"Another coming-of-age story, this one is about a young boy sent to live with relatives in the countryside when his mother is unable to take care of him anymore after falling ill with TB. The boy, Ingemar, barks like a dog to avoid difficult situations. He is too young to face his predicament and very sweetly navigates his way through an eccentric cast of characters in a small Swedish town. A really loving and heartwarming tale with an amazing performance by a young Anton Glanzelius."

Fredrik Backman's latest novel takes place in the small Swedish town of Beartown, which is slowly dying, practically having nothing left but their love of hockey. Their only hope is with their junior hockey team; if they win the finals this year, they're sure things will change for them. However, sometimes change comes in unexpected ways, and Beartown is about to experience that first hand. Find out what I thought of Backman's latest work in my review here.

Lots of funny scenes
Good gore effects
Fun Comedy Horror
Only just got around to seeing this. I actually thought it was an English film given the title but set in a small American town. The humour is definitely more English. At times it's like American Pie meets Shaun of the dead. It's silly and it plays up to that. You can tell the cast had fun and the gore effects were pretty decent as well. Definitely a film that will make you laugh.

20 years ago, the small Boston town of Exeter was rocked when it was learned the Boston mob was using the swamp to dump bodies. Now, Rick, the son of one of the men convicted as a result, is moving back to town. And his old friends don't know what to make of it. I could not put this book down, literally reading most of it in one day. While not a mystery, the tension is still very real, and the characters are so great you want to root for them. NOTE: Jennie is a friend who sent me the book for free. I honestly can't wait for the sequel to come out.
