David McK (3425 KP) rated Incredible Hulk Epic Collection Vol. 1: Man or Monster? in Books
Jan 30, 2019
A collection of the original sIncredible Hulk tories (or those in which he appeared), I was actually surprised on reading these just how 'smart' (relatively speaking) the Hulk actually was - not at all like the "Rrrr...Arrrgh" engine of destruction I was expecting, but able to hold full conversations with those he was interacting with.
I was also surprised that - initially, at least - the transformation process did not happen when Bruce Banner got angry, but rather at night times, or when he voluntarily underwent it by stepping in front of his hidden Gamma Ray machine (after initially being caught in a Gamma Ray explosion that started the whole process going): very much a modern Jekyll and Hyde scenario, as it were!
James Koppert (2698 KP) rated 0:12 Revolution in Just Listening by Coalesce in Music
Nov 1, 2019 (Updated Nov 1, 2019)
So what do they sound like? Well imagine the grooviest riffs by Zeppelin but infinitely heavier, throw in some jazz timing and some of the most gravelly roars the human throat can muster and this is Coalesce. The sounds are great slabs that smash you across the head. It's just so damn heavy and so damn groovy at the same time. Incredible.
Logan (76 KP) rated Ready Player One in Books
Jan 14, 2019
I only played one MMORPG seriously (Guild Wars, I'm looking at you!), and it consumed my life for a good year or so. This is important - all sorts of games are mentioned in Ready Player One, but it takes place within an MMO, and I'd wager that experience with MMOs will vastly increase your enjoyment of this book. It brought back all my fondest memories of gaming culture. It wasn't the most complex story of all time, but it did constantly manage to remind me of how much I loved hanging out with friends, arguing about games, and competing to see who truly had the best grasp of combat mechanics in super smash bros.
