I seem to be really into the whole sports romance thing lately. This will be my fifth in a row!

This starts with Penelope writing romances involving herself and various other students she finds attractive in her journal as she takes a break from her job at the on campus diner, only to be interrupted by her nemesis and super jock, Ryker. They continually wind each other up but Ryker can't help but be fascinated and drawn to the nerdy girl, and she can't help but write him into her romances.

I read I Hate You (Charm & Blaze's story) a while ago and this seems to take place around the same time as the events of that one so it's been a little strange that they aren't a couple yet... It's hard to figure out the right order since they aren't actually listed as a series.

Everything seemed so familiar with this book, almost like I'd read it before - maybe it's because of the above issue. I did like it though. The nerdy but rebel girl and the jock. It was cute in the end and I loved how they finally got together, it was slow and steady.

I really didn't like Archer. He wasn't a nice guy, too obsessed with getting Captain of the football team and crushing whoever got in his way. He eventually got what he deserved.

I'm still standing by my words from the review of I Hate You and would love to read Dillon's story, I Promise You.

Much better than ๐˜‹๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ต 9 even though it's essentially the same movie for the chief purpose that this is cleaner, more fun, and ditches the sloppy gimmick and failed heavy-handed metaphor. Those last 30 minutes are godly, just totally bananas trashy cyberpunk action glory - not only the best thing Blomkamp has ever done but some of the most fun a sci-fi movie has had in the 2010s. But otherwise a movie about robot cop Sharlto Copley hanging around Die Antwood who teach him how to be gangsta but he accidentally discovers consciousness while a deranged Hugh Jackman desperately wants to let his monster mech loose on the city should be a lot more entertaining than this was. Still sports impeccable graphics and design as always with Neill, and you know what this isn't deep on any level nor does it have a single talking point about the militarization of the police department or A.I. or big tech corporations - fine, whatever. But there's almost zero violence for the hour + twenty-five minute stretch in the middle of this where it becomes this trite, sickly sweet family drama? I mean you're practically poised to fashion this nuanced, ultraviolent story dissecting how A.I. reacts to trauma but instead they're reading bedtime stories to the thing? Still vibrant and ridiculous though, enjoyed the hell out of it - I ain't picky. Plus points for letting all these actors use their natural accents.

La e faatafa ma e soso ese
I was completely ready to dismiss this film as a mindnumbing display of testosterone starring a trio of follicly-challenged Adonises. Mostly it turned out to be true. Idris Elba starred as Brixton, a half-machine mercenary charged with the retrieval of a dangerous virus. Dwayne Johnson plays Lucas Hobbs, a single dad special agent who uses his brawn to solve all of the world's problems. Jason Statham plays Deckard Shaw, a possibly quadruple agent he has changed sides so many times in his three movies. Deckard Shaw worked with Brixton undercover and almost killed him, then attempted to kill the car thieves from Fast and Furious until he joined the gang to solve the problems of the universe. Maybe Dom, Lucas, Deckard, Lettie, Owen, Mr Nobody, and the rest can hijack a space shuttle and battle intergalactic terrorists in the next chapter. But I digress... Deckard's sister Hattie working for MI-6 prevented Brixton from stealing the virus and is on the run from everyone. So, Hobbs and Shaw are recruited to find Hattie and save the planet before the virus is released. While the Tango and Cash routine is entertaining, witty reparte is not the series' strong suit and soon helicopters are chasing trucks, trucks are chasing motorcycles, motorcycles are chasing McLarens, and sports cars are chasing helicopters. The big lesson learned is that in order to save the world, the two greatest superspies who are not good at stealtiness have to work together and sacrifice their egos.
