Dean (6926 KP) rated The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018) in Movies

This feels very different. From the Bond like opening credits and plot about a programme that can hack any nuclear missile world wide. It's very broad in scope... Without actually having a big plot feel to it. It's not a bad film, it's an ok Thriller. After the high standards set by the other films though this is a step down. Check out the the Swedish ones if you haven't seen them.
The one thing it does lack is a song with a musical chorus to break up the rap - he has done this well with Dido and Rihanna in the past and something like this would have been a big plus...
Definately an album that has a replay factor, and not a one listen and put away disc.

As before, they are then caught up in a mystery surrounding a murder as well as the usual romantic entanglements for these novels. This also sees the return of the 'Master Criminal' from the previous books, who is both named (obviously not his real name) and looks like becoming a recurring character in the series as a whole.
I found this to be a diverting enough read, but not up to the standards of the first novel, perhaps due to the fact that I am now familiar with the type of story it is.

This might be because, I feel, that Hearne is beginning to find his feet more, with the series beginning to get its own distinct style rather than the very Dresden-ish feeling I got from [b:Hounded|18404329|Hounded|David Rosenfelt|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1382758931s/18404329.jpg|26038191].
I also like the glimpses back into Atticus's history, and the plot strands left for future entries, with his world (as a whole) now beginning to develop further.
While still not (yet) up to Dresden standards, this is beginning to get there: I think I will read a few more of these :)
