the biggest warm and fuzzies!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Usually I write a little blurby bit, but I'm not going to here, I'm gonna jump straight in!
Cos, this book right?? It's so freaking good!
It's not ever so smexy, but it has passion and emotion. It's not explicit but it has steam! There isn't much drama, save for the idiot ex-manager and Martin making his decision. It's not very long, some 95 pages, but I'll come back to that bit shortly.
And all that is why I loved this book! Finding yourself after such a long time is what this is all about and Martin, once he makes the decision he does, he and Simon are a couple, after such a short space of time, and Martin leaving to finish what he needs to do gives them time to miss each other, even though they are in constant contact.
Back to the length of this book. I would probably have said, as I've done before, that this book is too short. However, I don't think this particular book would work as a longer piece, I really don't. It's the perfect page length for this story, for Simon and Martin to fall in love.
It's full of emotion and love, and gave me the biggest warm and fuzzies feeling I've had in a long time!
First I can see of this author, I want more if they are all this cute!

Merissa (13989 KP) rated Fiery Nights Tempted (Gen-Heirs World: Bella and the Beast Master #4) in Books
Feb 7, 2024
FIERY NIGHTS TEMPTED is the fourth novella in the Gen-Heirs World: Bella and the Beast Master series. It does follow on from the previous two, so I would definitely recommend you read those first.
Things are hotting up between Markus and Bella, and I for one am over the moon for them. I did feel sorry for them at the beginning though. Markus has to return to Ruthenia for a while and leave Bella behind. He also knows she is ovulating, so in his wisdom, he decides they will abstain as he doesn't want Bella to find out if she's pregnant when she's on her own. Yeah, right. Like THAT'S going to happen! Not with these two. Plus, they get a new case that takes them to new places, leaving Bella insecure.
I loved this story! You should be ready to hear that now. I've loved all of them so far. But this one? Whether it's the steam rating or not, or whether it's the mystery side that was brilliant, I don't know. All I know is I was completely engrossed and read it from start to finish in one sitting. And that ending?!!! Gah!!!
Absolutely brilliant and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me! You will be left wanting more though, just saying. 😁

loved the emotional connection!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
What this is, right, is a bloody good book!
I mean, there is drama, both for Arthur and Brooklyn and other folks in their lives. Brooklyn's sister, Cheyenne, arrives with a whole host of problems, and really that is the most drama.
There is so much love in Gaynor Beach, that it jumps off the page. Arthur and Brooklyn have fast attraction, but given that Arthur is injured, they do take a *small* amount of time to act on it.
FURBABIES!! Lots and lots of furbabies and I did get a bit lost at one point, but I'm not holding anything against the book for that! Also, no furbabies were harmed in this book. Scared, yes indeed, but not harmed.
I loved the emotional connection between Arthur and Brooklyn. It grows at pace, and doesn't let up. The steam level is perfect for these two. Steamy in places and fade to grey in others.
There is a huge amount of support for Arthur, when things happen. For Brooklyn too, when Cheyenne arrives. What she is dealing with is quite dark, but on the whole, very well dealt with. The book is a light book, apart from this.
I have not read other books in this series, and a quick glance at the blurbs for those books means, at some point (!!) I want to go back and read them.
A wonderful, 4 star read.

Merissa (13989 KP) rated Palaces and other Prisons (Part of: Tinsel and Tentacles 3.0) in Books
Nov 21, 2025
PALACES AND OTHER PRISONS is part of the Tinsel and Tentacles 3:0 series, and features Ul, king of the Krakke, and Dawson, an oil rig worker. Their worlds collide when the island of Felloi is magically transported to the mundane world, landing beneath the oil platform. Similar occurrences happen all over the world, but not everyone is as lucky. Dawson volunteers to meet with the 'monsters' as those on the platform ration food and water.
This is a low steam, slow-burning story with some big differences right from the start, language being the main one. I liked the explanation of how the Felloi learn languages, and how it was portrayed in the story. The other differences, such as clothing and customs, were also well written.
Personally, I would have preferred a little more time spent with Dawson and Ul, especially when they were sneaking off together, and after. Apart from moments, it didn't seem as though they actually spent that much time together.
There were also little things, like how Dawson was poisoned. We know where, and we know what with, but how, especially when he never felt it happen, just the aftereffects. That, and with Ul's cousin, felt like an afterthought.
Overall, this was a cute read with some nice characters.
