Lassie meets Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Hungarian-style. A young girl and her faithful pet are forcibly parted, which is the stuff of many a tear-jerking melodrama. The dog raises an army of mongrels and sets out to take revenge on human civilisation, which is not.

Obviously scores quite highly on the 'never seen *that* in a movie before' front; excellent direction and storytelling, and a remarkably self-possessed performance by Zsofia Psotta. Never really overcomes a slightly self-conscious weirdness that keeps it from completely working as either horror or drama. It's not entirely clear what the moral premise of the movie is, other than 'be kind to dogs'; can't help thinking it's probably quite facile, anyway. But the dog trainers do a sterling job of keeping it interesting.

Album Favorite

"This could possibly be my favourite ever album. I first heard it through Adrian's dad, who's a massive music…I was going to say "freak", but let's say "fan" [laughs]. He's one of those people whose passion for music is relentless. This reminds me of the early days of the band being together, and we all fell in love with it together. And what I love most about it is that every time I go back to it, it's like I haven't finished with it. It's so layered in its music and its storytelling – there's so much going on. I feel like I'm going on a different adventure every time I listen to it. It's like this ever-changing kaleidoscope of colours to get lost in. That's a perfect record to me.

One book that I will never tire reading
This book is one that I will always remember as one my first favorites that got me into reading fantasy. It is the only book that I have read more than a dozen times. It's a classic for a reason. The storytelling while some people say is over-descriptive will never get old to me. The journey of a young hobbit on an unforgettable journey is something that inspires myself and many others. The tale makes me wish I lived in a simpler time without the hustle and bustle of cities. It is greatly inspiring and makes me want to go on a journey of my own. It will always resonate within me. I recommend it to everyone I talk to about books.
