Strange Feelings
Contains spoilers, click to show
Both of the protagonists were hard to like in different ways. Both smug, but one bitter and the other spoiled but grieving. If you've read, you'll know who is which. The focus on the story seemed in the wrong places and paced with annoying repetition. I would have loved to have more about the boys' childhoods. Dova's mother and her background were far more interesting to me. I expected a climax, but instead got blue balls. One human being judging another, from nothing but a sparse childhood presence and his current state to go on. I liked the suggestion that they had a boyish crush on each other. The end was oddly fantastic.
Tormaigh (0 KP) rated Cards Against Humanity in Tabletop Games

Great for Parties
I love this game. I play it with my family at Christmas and on holiday (because we are strange and inappropriate). It is always hilarious and often lasting jokes are created by the conversations we have whilst playing. (n.b. I would not recommend this as a "family game" for most families!)
The only drawback is that we play it a lot and thus some combinations of cards get played again and again which makes them less funny. Therefore we have to keep buying expansion packs to save from getting tired of it. However, that does make buying presents easier as Cards Against Humanity regularly bring out new decks and we can all buy them for eachother.

Doesn't beat the 1st installment
Another Awesome Marvel Movie
Marvel seem to have what it takes to beat down DC comics attempts to make a good movie. No matter which director lands the job of making a MCU film, the job is 90% of the time a massive success (not including the the first 2 fantastic 4 movies, they were dreadful). Although this film had us laughing from the beginning right through til the end, volume 2 doesn't quite match the arse kicking first one. With some pretty big names making their appearance, Guardians Of the Galaxy: volume 2 does kinda fill the void while we all wait for the next marvel release: Thor: Ragnarok.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2165 KP) rated Death on Tour (Jocelyn Shore, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
No one is too upset with the tour group busy body is found dead on the groups first day in Egypt. But Jocelyn soon begins to suspect that the death wasn't an accident. As the trip continues, strange things seem to happen wherever they go. What's going on? I enjoyed the tour parts of the book, although they did seem to slow the book down. That's not necessarily a bad thing because it is painfully obvious what is happening very early on. Add to that characters that aren't always likeable, and you've got something that could have been fun but winds up only average.

Trixie and her friends are in Idaho camping with her cousins. There's a rumor that a sasquatch has been spotted in the area, and then one wanders into camp. Or does it? As strange thing keep happening, Trixie needs to figure out what is really happening.
This is a very uneven book plot wise, with a slow start but a very suspenseful second half. The characters are mostly good, except for poor Diana who comes across as a whining scaredy cat - not one of her better books. Overall, this one is okay at best, and then only for die hard fans.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Cable & Deadpool Vol. 1: If Looks Could Kill in Books
Oct 9, 2018
Good Cable book, not so much Deadpool
Note that this is "Cable & Deadpool", NOT the other way round. This is first and foremost a Cable book, with Deadpool along for the ride. Deadpool is hired to help a strange French religious sect steal a virus that changes how people look - they want everyone in the world to look the same - blue. It starts off as a decent irreverent Deadpool story but once Cable gets embroiled it all gets more serious. There are fun moments, such as when the stars have to share their DNA in order to recover from the virus (which all gets a bit pseudo-science mumbo jumboey) with quite amusing results.
This is far from Deadpool at his best, but it is still enjoyable.

★★★★ 4 Star Rating
This was quite a strange book to get into but once I did I really enjoyed it. I thought the author did a very good job at writing from the view point of an autistic boy.
This is kind of like 2 stories in one in the sense that the theme changes part way through, it flowed quite well, not perfect but it kept my interest. The diagrams were a great idea, however, occasionally I did find them a bit distracting and irritating.
This book was popping up on my GR home page quite a lot with many mixed reviews so I thought I would give it a go and borrow it from my local library. I'm glad I did!

My favourite book of 2018
Well I brought this book as heard so so many good reviews, like most books I try not to read spoilers as I enjoy the surprise! ..I was not disappointed I took it on holiday to Mexico and sat by the pool all day turning page after page ..the only disappointment I got was when I finished it!
It’s a strange feeling when your climbing deep into a book , thinking you know the characters well then ‘bang’ you don’t know them at all. It’s such a gorgeous love story but with twists I was not expecting I felt all sorts of emotions all the way through.
I will be reading more of Katherine’s books she is very talented

Stands the test of time
I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey.
It's hard to describe a movie like Rocky Horror. A musical, sci-fi, horror, comedy?!? Well yes, but that doesn't do it justice. It is an experience..... no, I mean it. Ask the thousands of fans who still flock to midnight showings, dressed up as their favorite characters, ready to do the time warp again. So why to we enjoy this adventure of Brad Majors and his fiancee Janet Weis? Because! We don't need to explain ourselves to you. So, come up to the lab, and see what's on the slab. I see you shiver with antici............ pation
