Enjoyable, easy read
Rich in atmosphere, characterisation and vocabulary, this historical fiction follows the character of Hester White, an 18-year-old living in squalid conditions in 19th century London. A carriage accident may well prove her salvation - passenger, the charismatic Calder Brock, seems determined to rescue her from the gutter, his sister Rebekah to be entrusted with her education.
Following closely in Sarah Waters' footsteps, this is a Victorian pastiche that returns to those perennials of murder, identity, prostitution and female survival. Carlin writes with fluency and conjures up a grim, dank, seedy London where the only sanctuary for our heroine is in female friendship
While this is an enjoyable read, it does feel more generic than original, and there are some clumsy tricks such as the extended death-bed confession/life-story at the end. Great for fans of Victoriana.

Character development (8 more)
Good scares
Simple, but effective plotline
Atmospheric music
Conveys the character's experience to the audience
Great set design
Likable characters with individual personalities
No severe horror cliche pitfalls
Claustrophobia and genuine scares create a full experience for the audience
An amazing horror
Six female friends go on an adventure to explore some caves in the Appalachian mountains, where things don't go quite to plan. Focusing on Sarah, we follow the girls in their struggle for survival as they face claustrophobia, darkness, unstable footing, and the things that lurk in the caves.
It's a simple plot that allows us to focus on the characters themselves, each with their own distinct personalities. You get to know the 6 girls in a short amount of time and you can see their struggles and fears.
Genuinely terrifying, well worth a watch.

Bloody vampires
Blade- was the start of the blade triolgy. Personality to me, i think the second one is the best. But i do like this one as well.
The plot: A half-mortal, half-immortal is out to avenge his mother's death and rid the world of vampires. The modern-day technologically advanced vampires he is going after are in search of his special blood type needed to summon an evil god who plays a key role in their plan to execute the human race.
I thought wesley snipes as blade was a good choice. I liked him alot in the this film and the second one. The threed one not so much.
Blade mixs vampires with action, violence, gore, survival, horror and demons togther.
Overall this film was a good start to a underrated triolgy.

A Good Film
Whilst I don't think this is as dark or delves as much into human psyche and the fight for survival as the original book by Richard Matheson does, I do think that this is a very good film.
Will Smith plays an emotive, believable role. I particularly liked the interaction he has with Sam, his dog. This has a lot of emotional moments, and a few jump scares too
The only negatives I could comment on about this film, are firstly, I didn't like the C.G.I 'infected'. They looked too fake to be scary. Also, I thought the ending to this film was a bit rushed.
Whilst there are some changes from the book, I do think that this is a really good film adaptation

What It Takes To Survive
The Last Man on Earth- is a excellent, fantasic, phenomenal movie. Thats all about surviving and survival. Being the only human alive. The Last man alive. And Vincent Price is that man and he is perfect and excellent. He usually plays a villian, now you see him as a anti hero, someone good, but bad.
The plot: The survivor (Vincent Price) of a global epidemic battles a race of zombie vampires in an adaptation of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend."
This film is based on the 1954 novel I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. Which would be later a film that would star Will Smith in 2007. A underrared film.
This film is excellent and fantasic. Plus you have Vincent Pricr which is a huge plus in my books.
