Christmas + Suspense = Count me in!

I am a sucker for a fast paced, action packed, Christmas story and boy does Mary Alford deliver it in spades with this book. From the first page to the last I was enthralled by the plot, the characters, and the Christmas theme. While a little over the dramatic (not very dramatic, just a few instances that fit well with the story line), I enjoyed the characters struggles and the underlying message of God being able to forgive all our sins no matter how big or small. Definitely a good read and Mary Alford is a new to me author that I will look for in the future.

*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

Escape From New York is a excellent movie. That combines sci-fi, action, adventure, suspense and thrills.

The plot: In 1997, a major war between the United States and the Soviet Union is concluding, and the entire island of Manhattan has been converted into a giant maximum security prison. When Air Force One is hijacked and crashes into the island, the president (Donald Pleasence) is taken hostage by a group of inmates. Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell), a former Special Forces soldier turned criminal, is recruited to retrieve the president in exchange for his own freedom.

The cast is full of people who have or will work will john carpenter. Kurt Russell, Nick Castle, Tom Atkins, Donald Pleaseance, Jamie Lee Curtis and Nancy Stephens all in this film.

Its a excellent movie.

The main leads in this novel are two detectives, Wolf and Baxter, and they are absolutely incredible. The story is told from multiple perspectives, showing the hard work of many, smaller characters mentioned throughout the book. Wolf and Baxter are very complex and messed up people, but their witty and sarcastic life stories were a real joy to read. The bond between Wolf and Baxter is truly special and reading about their interactions with each other and other characters provided so much insight into their true personalities. I really loved the way Daniel Cole developed and presented all the characters in this novel.

The narrative of this book was full of suspense and surprises. It is pretty fast-paced, and the characters are being killed off quite quickly.

If you saw the trailers for this movie before its release you would think your getting an all out humans vs aliens action movie but that's not what this is.This is more of a suspense/thriller movie with a few small action sequences thrown in.

After the earth is invaded by aliens the humans are colonised and put to work by them in exchange for their protection. No more wars..crime is down etc etc

After one failed attempt at starting a war another one is put into place and this is the main focus of the film. All is not as it seems though and when we get to the final 5 minutes of the movie all is made apparent. Not a classic in the sci-fi genre but certainly worth a look.

Interesting enough series
First point I haven't seen the film so can't say how it compares to that. Overall I enjoyed this it was an entertaining enough series to watch over a few evenings. The casting and acting is decent and the premise interesting. There are quite a few plot holes that require you to suspend disbelief but if you can look past these it is an decent enough series. The season finale was a little bit disappointing it is obviously setting up for a second series but it did feel a bit predictable and didn't really deliver the suspense it was trying to which was a shame as the 2 episodes before were much more exciting so felt a bit of an anticlimax.

In The Name Of Freedom
The Siege- is a good action movie, that the plot of this movie, is still happening today.

The plot: After terrorists attack a bus in Brooklyn, a Broadway theater and FBI headquarters, FBI anti-terrorism expert Anthony Hubbard (Denzel Washington) teams up with CIA agent Elise Kraft (Annette Bening) to investigate. Soon, martial law is declared in New York City, and General William Devereaux (Bruce Willis), a sadistic racist, is put in command. When Devereaux begins rounding up Arab-Americans and forcing them into a detention camp, Hubbard and Kraft must fight back in the name of freedom.

Like i said its a good action suspense thriller. Its only downfall is that we have seen this before, but its still a good movie.
