ArecRain (8 KP) rated Share and Share Alike (Aspen Valley, #3) in Books
Jan 18, 2018
I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review
The third in the series has more of suspense feel to it than the others, I have to say it didnt work for me. I dont really do suspense even when its paired with romance, so I found myself enjoying this novel less than the first two. I did enjoy how much love these characters had for animals. As someone who loves all animals (I am that person who wont step on a spider!), it warmed my heart to see their devotion.
The bottomline is that, despite not enjoying the mystery/suspense aspect, it was an enjoyable read. The characters are easy to like and their actions make more sense than those of characters in the previous installment. This was one of those novels where I enjoyed reading about the journey rather than reading towards the goal.
Its also much easier to pick up on the language after read a few of these novels. If you are not used to European, particularly British, terms, then it could throw you off. The author makes sure these dont actually interfere with the story, however.

BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated The House on Foster Hill in Books
Jan 2, 2019
Just the right amount of suspense, mystery, romance, and creepiness......to satisfy the bookish mind!
I am not typically a "suspense" reader (and DEFINITELY not a suspense movie type of person at all). But when word about this book started circulating around the bookish world last year...I just knew I HAD to read it!!! I mean just look at that cover...It screams "YOU MUST READ ME! You MUST discover the secrets that I hold within these pages!"
Be prepared for a lot of emotions that will be brought to the surface while reading The House on Foster Hill. Jaime addresses some very difficult topics in this book. And I am SO glad she does. It is not easy to read about, but the TRUTH must be shared. The secrets, the pain, the shame, must all be brought forward for healing, restoration, and freedom.
With a dual timeline, the author alternates between the present and the past with flawless accuracy. Secrets and shame hide behind the walls of Foster Hill House. What will be revealed? And what will be lost to history forever?
I received a complimentary copy of The House on Foster Hill. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Katie Loves Movies (134 KP) rated Casablanca (1942) in Movies

You can watch it numerous times and still find sub-plots and back stories you had never noticed before (5 more)
Bogart and Bergman are utterly perfect
Superbly written with every mechanic used to propel your heart through an emotional rollercoaster
The 'Battle Of The Anthems' scene
Romance without the usual sentimental claptrap
'Play it!' (Sam)
The perfect story of romance, intrigue and suspense

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda in Books
Jan 12, 2018
The point of view and the perspective of this story was spot on. I really likes the characters of Simon and Blue. Keeping the suspense until the end who Blue was was great. There were points in this book I laughed out loud. Others just made me feel uncomfortable for the charcters, which is a good thing. This is a romance with innocence.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated Serafina and the Black Cloak in Books
Jan 15, 2018
This was such a wonderful book! So many great lessons running through through the whole thing about friendship, family, & the impact the choices you make have. Yet it had blood & suspense but humor too. I can't wait to see how this series continues, if it does. Mr. Beatty you have some big shoes to fill to live up to this first installment!

Chelsea (166 KP) rated Then She Was Gone in Books

I loved this book! It was so engaging that it was hard to put down. The mystery of what happened to Ellie grips you from the start and the details discovered throughout are horrifying and heartbreaking. The different perspectives were interesting, and I was just waiting for the other characters to find out the truth. Highly recommend!

Jessica Cashen (1 KP) rated Unrest (Unknown #2) in Books
May 16, 2018
A Fantastic second book. Unrest starts right where Unknown left off. It is fast paced and full of action and suspense. I couldn't put it down, I was up way past what I wanted to be. Questions I had from book 1 were answered but now I have more! Overall a great read! I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.

Kate (355 KP) rated Side Effects (2013) in Movies
Mar 12, 2019
It was OK, I did watch the whole film although the ending was guessed about half way through and there are plenty of films out there with similar plot lines. The suspense music does not really work and of course they had to put some lines in as to why Jude Law had an English accent because he can't do any others.

starwarsluvr (236 KP) rated Rushed (Love like Yours, #1) in Books
Jan 30, 2018
This was a very interesting story. The characters were sweet and amazing. Their love was wonderfully written. Their was truthful suspense and so much interesting things going on. I really enjoyed the way this was written and how everything was put together. This author is a new one for me but I enjoyed her work and would love to read more.

Vikki (3 KP) rated A Game of Thrones in Books

Pretty Epic
When I first started GOT I had already binge watched the show. I was hoping for answers. I got answers and more! If you love the show the books are even better. However they start a little slow to get into. Once you do its worth it though.
