An exciting read from start to finish
The basis of this book as an immersion into a Virtual Reality computer game that takes you back to 80's computer games and tabletop role playing. It takes you on a journey that mixes virtual reality with a contest of a lifetime, whilst keeping a grounding in good old fashioned reality. It is one of those rare books that is worth a re-read

Great gateway game
This is a great gateway into the world of boardgaming.
Fun, Easy to learn, infinitely replayable and lots of expansions to change it up.
This is a great way to get into tabletop gaming as there's some strategy involved without being too heavy or serious,
There are many ways to win and this keeps you guessing until final scoring at the end.
A minute to learn but a lifetime to master.

Easy to learn. Art is good. Components are good. This game first used people shaped wooden tokens that became known as meeples. Different difficulty levels. (0 more)
It lasts longer than it should sometimes. It has too many expansions, that add to the playtime. (0 more)
Carcassonne, a tabletop gaming cornerstone...
Carcassonne is a cornerstone of modern tabletop gaming. There are more positives than negatives with this game. It is a great introductory game for people who are unfamiliar with modern board games. This is also a great family game, because you can play the game on different difficulty levels. Removing the farmer option is the easiest variant to start with. The art in the newest version is an upgrade over previous versions. It is nice that the base game comes with a couple of easy mini expansions. I do think that adding expansions is fun, but I don't think you should play with all of them at the same time. This review is a result of a giveaway courtesy of Smashbomb.

I like the notification at the bottom of the review so I can tell people about reviews I'm posting... but can we have some sort of system where I can post to my "usual suspects"? or friends? based on catagory..... maybe I have 5 or 6 peope I notify when i post book reviews, and 3 or 4 with movies and 10 I notify in Tabletop games.... something like the followers and following square of 16 people, but have it based on what I am reviewing....

Hi @The Marinated Meeple - I understand this.

Are you referring only to other Smashbomb users, or non-users (by email) too?

No option to switch graphical styles
Cave Story+ isn’t the definitive version of Cave Story—I think that crown still belongs to the WiiWare version, but then again, that version isn’t portable. I do miss the ability to switch graphical styles, but it’s really the only regrettable absentee.
