One thing I can say for this: the author seemed to know what she was talking about with this be it the lingo or the action. In truth I was more into the action elements than the romance. And that is why it's only getting three star, because I'm a romance reader and it didn't hold my attention that much.

"I’m excited to announce that our first book of 2018 is Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge which talks about the history of racism in Britain, and ways we can see, acknowledge and challenge racism. I am not supposed to have favourites, however this was the most important book for me this year."

"While talking docs, an important one to see is “The Great Hack,” which provides a frightening, thorough investigation with people you might not even know existed as to the extent any notion privacy is now an illusion, how we have been manipulated politically, and the myriad ways in which we are now vulnerable to the interests of anyone who has our data."

I think reading this before I read the second book in the Hell or High Water series wasn't the best idea as the characters were talking about things I had no idea about.

That being said I did like the IM messages between Mal and Cillian and that ending has definitely got me wanting to read a second book about them.

Rolling Stone's 332nd greatest album of all time
This was much better than "I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight" in my opinion. The songs vary quite markedly throughout - we get the "more Richard" songs which have a very Talking Heads/Roxy Music feel, and the "more Linda" songs, which are softer, more Carpenters. A good album overall and an interesting one.

Rolling Stone's 383rd greatest album of all time
This album is proof of Talking Heads' quality - I don't recognise any of the songs (except "Take Me to the River") but really enjoyed the album. Their sound, similar to Roxy Music is so distinctive and the songwriting so strong that even a casual listener like me can enjoy it on a first listen.
