Dean (6926 KP) rated Flood (2007) in Movies
Sep 23, 2019 (Updated Sep 23, 2019)
This is a fairly decent disaster film. It's a nice change to see a film of this type set outside New York for a change! Some of the acting is pretty dour....the old guy playing a marine expert is especially bad, talking at the same pace and tone no matter what the scene. However the SFX in places are impressive and shots of a flooded London are believable. Overall it would have benefitted from a bigger budget, but it is still watchable.

Tongue and cheek feminist outlook of Greek mythology
This is pretty hilarious. Once again, the master of feminist prose Margaret Atwood has created a modern day version of Penelope from the Greek mythology of Odysseus in which she is no longer alive. She's rather outspoken, feisty and sly attempting to live with her brutish husband while on Earth. At the same time, her hatred for Helen of Troy has seeped into her afterlife as well. I love the ending talking about liposuction and heels. A fun read.

This movie isn’t really worth watching AT ALL, unless you like the guys from Workaholics. While I do like their show, the movie is AWFUL. Could’ve lived without seeing full on dicks, talking about a guy eating a prostitute’s ass and getting crabs, and seeing a dude tossing a big dude’s salad... The entire movie was full of disgusting things and frustrating circumstances. I will NEVER watch this movie again or the supposed sequel they plan on making for it.

Helping Love Last.
Five Languages you probably don't realize are real. Talking in love languages is amazing. He does such a great job explaining them. How to learn to talk in the other persons love language as well as your own. It is helping me save my relationship with my boyfriend. It helped my parents learn to better show love to the other person. Well written.

What do a city wide talent show and a closed off swimmer hole have in common? More than you might think in this delightful middle grade caper. The plot was always moving forward, and I loved how everything came together in the end. The characters could have used a bit more development, but that's the adult in me talking. Kids will love it.

My first podcast
I’m only up to the 12th episode, and fell in love with it upon first listening to it. They may not always know all the details but they’re very informative and try to lighten the mood when things get too dark (such as cannibalism) so maybe we won’t go off and have nightmares. It’ll take a while but I plan on listening to every episode.
