Donna C (199 KP) rated Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster in Podcasts

Love it
I love this podcast. Ed and James are quite the foodies. They’ve both travelled a lot and visited a lot of different restaurants around the world. I also like the fact that Ed doesn’t mind talking about his type 1 diabetes, and he also doesn’t let it limit his culinary choices. (Refreshing for fellow type 1s like me!).
As for their guests - they are generally fellow comedians but not necessarily. They are asked what their dream meal would be and why. There are some surprising choices. The funniest for me so far has been Victoria Coren-Mitchell. Not what I expected at all ?.

Strangers thrown together must endure a gruelling and interminable ordeal - I'm not talking about Idris Elba and Kate Winslet, but cinema audiences who unsuspectingly sit down to watch The Mountain Between Us.
Reasonably competent, I suppose, as a piece of storytelling, but really, really dull and predictable - takes a while to get going, and then another while to conclude once the actual story is finished. Also contains the leading candidate for Worst Sex Scene of the year - although who knows, maybe frostbite, malnutrition and incipient gangrene is just the thing to get most people in the mood, I don't know (it's been a while). Not actively bad, just very undistinguished.

There mysterious murder that brings about some things. It bring out some secrets from a few folks. The biggest one in this book is how Perry died and also about Lydia. Lydia find out something and has a hard time accepting it. She starts talking to Walker Anderson.
Walker Anderson is having trouble with what happen and what he seen. There detective that comes to town and people start becoming closed mouthed and things do look strange. The detective also is struggling with some things as well. Though he want wants to got back to Chicago, he starting to fit into this little commuitty that has this mysterious murder.

Such an interesting podcast
I really love listening to this podcast it is completely different every single episode, pretty much the guest that appears on the show decides where it’s going to go and what that episode is going to be like. This show is amazing because it just shows how meaningful human connection is and how much each of us are wanting to have a connection. Each of the guests have never talked to the host before and the host doesn’t know exactly what they’re going to be talking about so it leads for an interesting show every time.
Jcadden76 (64 KP) rated You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes in Podcasts

Love me some Pete Holmes
Pete Holmes puts out one of the best long form podcast on the interwebs. There is something about a comedian with the gift of gab having the ability to get people talking. You would assume with this podcast being helmed by funny man Pete Holmes that the whole show is going to be a laugh riot, but the interesting thing is that these conversations get deep and they do in fact get weird.
If you aren't sure about this podcast, give it the 3 episode challenge and see what you think. My belief is that you might just dig it.

Not enough action
A movie that lacks so much
A pretty disappointing movie. Watched it expecting something like the Expendables but this was worse.
Not enough action, long drawn out talking scenes and an ending I saw coming a mile off.
I wasn't a fan of the characters or the dialogue but I did like some of the actors.
What action the did have, I liked but that's as far as is goes. It needed non stop action. Gore effects were done well and Arnold Schwarzeneggers character could have been played by anyone else like Sylvester Stallone or someone.

I guess you just can't polish a turd, no matter how windy it is... Venom (2018) #Review
The most puzzling thing about “Venom” is that if Sony was determined to make this film, this exact story, they already had a movie they could call it a sequel to without pissing away yet another of their Marvel IPs that look increasingly like hostages rather than assets. I’m talking about “Life”, and it would have provided a better foundation for the story than this clumsy and inept attempt which sees Sony's would-be Spider-Man-less Spider-Verse telling Universal’s Dark Universe to hold its beer....

Like books? Need new recommendations?
This is a great podcast to listen to to hear a wide variety of new books coming out from a wide variety of genres. The hosts are great and know what they're talking about, while being fun to listen to. It's only a half an hour, so that can be both a good and bad thing, depending on how long you like your podasts, but hey, there are 185 shows to listen to! (as of 11/23/2018) Good listening. :)
Russ Troutt (291 KP) rated Take Me (2017) in Movies
Jul 2, 2019
You can take me at my word as I've not been kidnapped by Pat Healy and forced to say this, I'm writing this under my own free will, that Take Me is highly entertaining and is a fun ride of a movie. I'm talking a tied up in the back of a van with no seatbelt or stuffed in a trunk and taken up a mountain road kind of fun ride. Pat Healy is one of the best actors out there right now in my opinion, and I highly suggest you let him take you for a couple of hours with his feature directorial debut Take Me.
