"Obviously we gravitate to those we love, and I suppose the B52's did all the groundwork for the campy disco rock a la Scissor Sisters that followed decades later. They are true originals and may have been the soundtrack to a John Water's movie. I lost count of the amount of times I danced to ‘Rock Lobster’ and tried to learn the who's who list of names on 52 Girls. The brilliant thing about being a pop musician is that you get to meet all of your teen idols. We toured with The B52's and I stayed in Woodstook at Kate Pierson's Lazy Meadow's Silver-line Caravan site, where I consequently felt the drums of an Indian pow wow coming up through the water of the river through my feet (which I often hear on the intro to ‘A Little Respect’ but it isn’t actually part of the music… spooky!"

"Once the Seattle scene exploded and the band names became living-room buzzwords, Dinosaur Jr. got a modicum of recognition. They deserve a little more. If there is such a thing left as the avant-garde – as you know, all of the foreboding walls of the forbidden zone have been removed – it seems to me that Dinosaur Jr. have a bit of an edge. Nirvana was everywhere you went at that time. I was living in Laguna Beach. Some friends stopped in for a visit and we wound up on Balboa Island. To get to the other side there were two routes: the roundabout way, or a small five-car ferry that makes the short hop across. I remember waiting in line to board the ferry and some cute young barefooted hippie chick walked up to the car window and, out of the clear blue, gazed in with a smile and said, ""It smells like teen spirit in here."" I was going, wow. Okay.

After having suicidal dreams and a year of feeling depressed, Craig admits himself into a psychiatric hospital through fear of being a danger to himself. After seing the kind of people he has to stay with, he tries to change his mind but is told he must stay for at least 5 days.
Whilst in there he befriends a middle aged man called Bobby who we don't really know much about and a self harming teen called Noelle. The movie is based mostly on Bobby and Craig though.
I found there wasn't much of a storyline, way too many flashbacks and boring narrative. I did enjoy the scenes with Craig and Noelle more than Craig and Bobby though as they had more chemistry together, it didn't help that I had no interest in Bobby's character whatsoever. If they had focused more on Noelle it may have been a decent movie, but sadly it just fell flat.

Sabrina got DARK
Sabrina the Teenage Witch was a favourite of mine when I was a tween. I would spend hours on the couch giggling to myself, mostly at the awful anamatronic black cat named Salem.
So when it was announced there would be a reboot my childhood self came marching back, but what I watched wasn't at all the image of the fun,light-hearted, Melissa Joan Hart series I had come to love, NO, it was much, much darker.
Based on the exact same characters but with a much darker sinister plot. However it was enjoyable, with myself being a horror fanatic I felt it was a breath of fresh air, a more older teen/adult version.
Series 1 did seem to play out and I found it difficult to get into it, but with perseverance I made it to the end.

Definately a watch for us 80's/90's babies, but beware, its not quite the walk down memory lane.

And the Nostalgic Nickelodeon Netflix specials continue!

As a huge fan of The Invader Zim series, I was very satisfied with this story. It truly was everything and more I remembered Zim to be. Which is a bunch of smart random fun. It was also fun to introduce Zim to my nephew who is 7 of course his favorite is Grrr. He was quoting the show for days after which tugged at my heartstrings. The funniest thing that happened while I watched this was the realization I had. Now you can agree or disagree with this of course but I believe it true. I realized Invader Zim set the tone for today's cartoons. Teen Titans Go, Adventure Time, Amazing World of Gumball the list goes on and on all of these take from the original randomness of Zim. I recommend this piece of art to all and hope for more Nostalgic Nicktoons specials
