"There’s this movie called Le Souffle. It was called Deep Breath. It’s a f—ing amazing movie. It’s about a teenage boy who is kind of expelled from school, and he has to live with his uncle, I think, in the French countryside. I remember watching it when I was maybe 18 or 19, and I just loved the performances in it so much, and I think it’s kind of like a kid who’s on the run from himself in a way. I think it’s kind of quite related to Good Time as well. It’s just incredibly, beautifully shot. Yeah, that’s one of them."

"As a screenwriter first and foremost (and a director with little to no innate visual sense), I tend to prize narrative and story over most other elements in film. Amarcord arguably has neither. And yet I love it. I want to live in this town, wander among these streets, live with these characters. It also has an oddly casual sense of horny humor that remains surprisingly shocking. A throwaway moment of a car full of teenage boys masturbating never fails to make me laugh out loud. It also revels in odd details—a priest smelling his fingers, for example. It’s so gross. And yet so awesome."

"Of all the great (but few and far between) movies that truly capture the confusion, misplaced energy and anger of one’s teenage years, this, to me, is the best. At least the closest to nailing what I was feeling at that age. Even though it takes place decades before I was that age and in a country that is 4,000 miles away. There isn’t a false note in the whole movie. And it’s driven by one of my favorite albums of all time, of course The Who’s, Quadrophenia, which explores all those themes and more. And Phil Daniels does a supreme job at conveying all of those missed emotions."

I'm a little torn with this one. It's been a while since i read book 1 and I dont remember finding Rose so annoying in her teenage ways, yet at the same time i was sympathising with her since she was being treated like a little kid in some respects. I wasn't into the whole Rose/Jamie thing in this either; the pushing away and then doing something to pull her back into whatever kind of thing they had going on.

I'm sure I'll read the last book since it's a trilogy but it might be a while before i get around to buying it.

The Warren's daughter Judy (0 more)
Not enough scares (0 more)
I'm a big fan of the conjuring universe and was looking forward to seeing this.I enjoyed it in parts but it could and should have been so much better.

The Warren's daughter Judy is the main focus of this film, focusing on her abilities which are similar to her mothers. The scares are few and far between, the 2 teenage girls are annoying and entirely predictable in their meddling with the evil objects. The film is at it's best when the Warren's themselves are in it (beginning and end of the movie)

Hope the next entry into this series is The Conjuring 3.
